Can I use that instead of the powder do they have the same effect?

The powder is used when the wound is more wet/moist and ointment is causing maceration

Thanks for the great videos Jenny! Super helpful, just curious, in your clinical practice have you seen the Chlorhexidine impregnated dressing erode the patient’s skin over the time it’s left on? just curious. I’m guessing the concentration and gel material is designed to be low enough not to?
@theholetruthjb
@theholetruthjb 2 ай бұрын
No, it is slow release so very small amounts are released. Allowing time for the skin to dry prior to applying reduces any contact dermatitis

Is it painful when placed on top of an open wound? I have breast cancer and have an open wound
@theholetruthjb
@theholetruthjb 5 ай бұрын
No. It is quite soft. When drainage comes out of the wound it absorbs it, and turns into a gel. The tissue in the base of your wound should be pink or red, to be able to use alginate and does have drainage coming from the wound

interesting, swabbing cap connection x 1 min prior to removing cap, then applying new cap without swabbing catheter hub? Also no discard of blood return, just flush it back in? This is different than other videos I've seen.
@theholetruthjb
@theholetruthjb 7 ай бұрын
You are applying a new cap, so it's sterile and don't need to reswab the hub. You are only checking for blood return, not doing a blood draw, so you do not need to discard.

It’s amazing how many people on here think they know more than the doctors and then they think they should give medical advice. I pray that no one would ever take any kind of medical advice from UTube.

Excellent technique with application. Back in the day 😜, actually not too many years ago, when the KCI rep’s provided training on the wound vac application they were never as skilled as you. In the early years of wound vac training never was the “bridge technique’ taught on, then the training was on simulated flat/smooth make shift “body parts” not on a live patient.

We used masks to avoid spitting close to the wound when we talked. Many coccxgeal wounds in the convalescent homes. Important to rotate bed ridden patients on each sides every 2 hrs!!!

Following a vicious attack by a Brown Recluse Spider and her youngens, in my bed, 5 years ago, I was found on the floor, incoherent 3 days later with several gaping wounds. Two of them were on my left foot; one on the top of my foot, one under my heel and my great toe was amputated. Long story short, they used this procedure on my foot and I never understood exactly what the procedure was. Now I do and thank you for the explanation!

Holy shit I'm glad your good minus a toe I'm glad you didn't lose the whole foot and some leg ..I bet that was so painful too. my granddad left his gardening boots but the downstairs door to go outside to work beside the garage and he put them on went out was bit by a brown recluse also and it just about took his leg and foot , thank God it didn't but it was the nastiest wounds I'd ever seen and the biggest holes in his leg and foot ...
