Pile Pille? (or however tf you spell it). That freaking guy turned out to be Solomon Gold (aka Solomon Grundy [Born on a Mondy]) on Gotham! Annndddd Freakin Fisk on Daredevil, Hawkeye and Echo!!!! That dude (Vincent D.) Is literally one of my favorite actors! Just thinking this was one of his (if not the one) breakthrough role(s) is Incredible to me! Solid movie! Solid actors! Solid Military Coordinator with "Gunny", Solid Director! 👌 The whole thing is a work of *Bloody* Art! Lol

I love how in the first song Hartman can't swing rhythms but his men can. Ermey is so great as Hartman. Funny one minute, scary the next, stiff and military yet with tiny bits of humanity hding just under the surface. I love his "Happy Birthday to Jesus" bit. He cares not one whisker about religious freedom. On his island you'll sing happy birthday to Jesus and like it.

In USAF basic training in 1962, I remember my "Technical Sergeant" -(aka "Drill Sergeant" in the Marines and Army) screaming at any basic trainee for saying "sir" when addressing a sergeant. The response from the DI's was, "DON'T CALL ME 'SIR!! I WORK FOR A LIVING SCUMBAG! You WILL call me "SERGEANT!" Maybe times have changed and TI's and DI's are addressed using "Sir" in the enlisted ranks now. But use of "Sir" was always reserved for commissioned officers only back in my service days.

At FLW Basic In '97 there was a DS who sounded like, looked like, R Lee Ermey. Seemed like a clone or identical twin. He gave us a demo on how to make a bunk. Then he dumped the bunk over and shouted: "Now make your own damn bunk, I'm not making it for you!!!" He also said: "I'm an equal opportunist, I HATE ALL PRIVATES!!!".

When the movie came out-I went & saw it-by myself-THANK GOD. I literally was in hysterics thru the whole boot camp sequence-having myself gone thru boot in 1980-I can attest to it's spot on accuracy. Folks in the theater thought I was nuts. Best portrayal of Marine Corps boot camp -and yes-it DID happen !
