What’s consider reasonable price for this ? What’s the edition size ?how do I spot if is recast ?

For the price, imho it should be at most $1,000 since it doesn’t have any other switch out accessories, just a few other portraits that kinda look the same. Re edition size, im not sure but i think 50 or 100 at most. Re recast, that i am not sure😅.

The figure is cool, its flaws lie in the details of the face, the eyes are too closed, not allowing to appeciate Ian mackellen s strong blue eyes. On the other Hand, the mustaches are too thick, gandalf s beard should be smoother.

I literally repainted him as soon as I got him and WOW, what a difference it made. I did a very very light dry brushing of brown/black on his beard. And totally repainted the redish leatherwork top on him to a standard leather, then proceeded to re-do his legs and boots to a way darker color. I then did a very small amount of dark wash across his hands and face. Gotta say, it's the way the should have painted him in the first place. This is a good sculpt and I notice on the faces of a lot of them the paint doesn't emphasize/highlight the features very well. With a little bit of paint however, they all come up a LOT better. That smaller statue is pretty great!, I think I prefer the hair sculpt on it more than the Iron Studios one. As far as the troll goes... it's literally cheaper to go buy a nice FDM 3d printer and print a really large troll in pieces. I have done a few of them now and I gotta say, they are right up there with Iron Studios from a few feet back!. Great channel, great video again!! :) Also... I just saw the $79 Diamond select Legolas on BigBadToyStore... man... it looks really really good!!

yeah i think a lot of the figures just have mediocre paint finishes that's why a lot of the sculpts look bad. Wish i had your talent my friend when it comes to painting!

Yes, I agree that this Pippin likeness is much better than the IS Merry and Frodo likenesses. By-the-way, Billy is much older than the other actors who played Hobbits in the LOTR, even though he didn't look it. At the time of filming, Frodo (Elijah) was 18, Sam (Sean) was 28, Merry (Dominic) was 22 and Pippin (Billy) was 31.

hoping to pick it up tomorrow. I got the entire collection so far save for Sam and Saruman wave. It's definitely better than the toybiz counterpart which I own which is the first-wave Samwise with Moria door and him stuck in an action pose with his cloak all spread out.

I think he looks a little young as you said, but it's definitely him. Gimli's face in the Diamond Select range is better than the one in Iron Studios range in my opinion. I can see the these would be a lot of fun...surprised there's not a lot of stop motion done with them.

If I had to be honest... I truly think the Miniature WETA statue is the best Gandalf so far. I think it's the pose for me, I dunno. I also love the Saruman, Gollum, Radagast and Gimli in the Miniature range enough to say they are my preferred go to statues. I have two WETA Galadriels as well...but also think the upcoming Miniature Galadriel is also a better sculpt than either of these...yet the 1/6th scale usually cost soooo much more... so for getting this Gandalf at half price!!, is a really good deal.

As for the miniature line, really tempted to buy Galadriel, Fell Beast and Treebeard but must focus and just stick to FOTR characters hahaha! Weta’s 1/6 prices are quite ridiculous.

Would it be possible to put him next to the Iron Studios statue if you make a video of the one from Iron Studios please. He looks ok to me, but it's almost like they are trying to hide the face. I'd string some cotton for the string. Also needs darker hair. I wonder if the Troll from Diamond select will be close to scale.

I wonder if theyre still continuing the line tho. So far after Smaug, i havent seen who theyre making next. The quality is quite far from McFarlane’s take on the Matrix around 20 years ago. This is smaller and much lighter. Still not bad tho hahaha and im just bound to buy anything LOTR related 😂😂😂

Yes, I couldn't agree more. Merry is indeed the weakest of the group. I would place Frodo in the weak likeness category too. However, I'm sure the group, as a whole, will make for a very strong display.

I agree; Merry is by far the worst...maybe not so much because of the sculpt..but because he is in the most boring generic pose they could come up with. His face is 10x better than the one advertised which looks nothing like the actor at all.. this ones face is way better to me. However.....What they rarely ever do is throw in any facial expression...like... they are about to begin a nasty fight..but all of them are just standing there like they just woke up. Even Gandalfs face is devoid of expression..although his body is in an action stance...they need to be snarling/shocked/scared or SOMETHING, but unfortunately nothing. I wish Aragorn was holding his bow in this scene, and I did repaint his entire lower body right down to his boots, and then a nuln wash to his face to make him seem more in keeping with the scene. Overall I love the entire set. Iron studios did a pretty decent job and so far for me I at least have the best representation of a complete fellowship actually doing something together. Some of them have to be posed at the right angle to capture the likeness better of their actors. The WETA mini figures are way better sculpts but they are dragging out making the fellowship...god knows why, but i wish they would hurry up. I wish I could afford the new Legolas on the cave troll figure, but it's out of my price rance at the moment. The other really good Iron Studios figure I want is the Nazgul on his horse in the river, looks awesome.

@@sandlerscollection3318 I sent a link to Ebay.. for the Aragron figure... I think it gets stopped... but I don't know for sure... this one might make it through. I have Frodo on the tree as well... and am honestly quite happy with the Iron Studios substitutes. I also bought the miniature environment Dol Gudur from Weta..which was apparently their 1/32nd line... I got all their figures as well... but they never followed through with the miniatures... Luckily I have every single one of the Eaglemoss LOTR figures that fit beautifully with this model as well... Point is.. Currently I am loving their "Mini" figure range, of which Galadriel has just been released...and am keeping my fingers crossed that they follow through and actually continue making more... The 1/6th scale honestly are to big and expensive to collect.. and I truly to this day think thie mini figures are are better sculpts...although saruman in 1/6th is actually better than his mini. Ahh, good times :) well done on getting Gimli and Arwen... I missed both of those.. and I am really hoping we get a nice Arwen mini as well. Fingers crossed I guess for now. Also heads up... Target.. yes Target!!.. still have Helms deep for 899. I literally bought one for a company called Collectors Outpost... get one ASAP... these are going through the roof... treat it as an investment... an investment financially as well as for your soul lol. It will be rarer when the new Rohirrim movie comes out trust me :)

Where did you get this one from?... I've have had mine on pre-order for 12mths and still not even an email yet. I don't like Gimli's face, but he's a good sculpt on the tomb. Borimir is probably the best one so far. Legolas a close second, Aragorn was good when I literally re-painted all of him...he looks way more like Vigo now. Sam is good, Pippin is good...the second Frodo is not really to bad this time...and merry...looks NOTHING like the pathetic sculpt they use for their promotional pictures everywhere...the real model has a totally different face which is really pretty damned good...way better dont be turned off by the pictures like I was. Gollum (although not part of the scene is extremely good (comes with 2 bodies great value)). The Orcs are really good to... the spear Orc has a metal spear.. from memory Aragorns sword is also metal (i think). It's a great set all over. I 3dprinted a troll 2ft tall and it looks perfect for me...also saved 700bucks. This Gandalf looks nice to, but I will dive immediately into a dark wash to bring out the details...man that made a difference with Aragorn..they seem to be way to clean, but after doing this they are look so much better.

I got this from a local distributor here in Manila. I think our country is one of the first ones to get Iron Studios stuff. Yeah as much as id love to get the cave troll, it is a bit overpriced for me. Was thinking of getting the one the Diamond Select is making, made of PVC. Will be opening some of the fellowship this week too and will share my thoughts after I have opened them. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts too. Truly appreciate it!

The Diamond select troll I saw, is on BigBadToys..it's like nearly 1ft tall which is cool. It does look like a good sculpt. Only a few months away to :) I see there is a new Legolas that matches the reasonably new Aragorn from Diamond select as well.. approx 10inches in height. Aragorn is a pretty good sculpt. To much good stuff to choose from!... Love LOTR. Keep up the good work on your channel!!. Cheers.

For me the SS Aragorn Maquette is better than this Weta one. I would put the likeness much lower that 85% - 90% and the body overall is too elongated for me. The detail is fantastic though. Great price at $200, however overpriced at $400. I would love to see a side by side comparison of this and the SS one.

For me the Legolas, Gimli and Boromir are the best of the group. I have them all either in-hand or on order. The Boromir is particularly good. It's nice to have a rear version one without arrows sticking out of him. 😀
