I quite enjoy my voles and watching them. I planted native plants to benefit the wildlife rather than kill them

So if ants are eating the apple, you remove the apple and put bird seed. Do they eat bird seed.. and it is a active tunnel if the seed is all gone…

Voles eat roots of cannabis until the plant falls over. Then they will go on to next plant

Is this system actually killing the voles or just chasing them to your neighbors yard….
@volecontrol
@volecontrol 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Mary, the system kills the vole colony in your yard. The apple sign test helps determine the active area to place bait stations. You can learn more about the system and how it works at volecontrol.com

The Kaput Bait we sell with our bait stations is the least toxic poison on the market and does not pose a significant threat to birds of prey or non-target mammals, especially when used in a bait station.

Always good to encourage natural predators to help keep the vole numbers down. An infestation may require more action to gain control. The Kaput Vole Bait we sell with our bait stations is the least toxic poison on the market and does not pose a threat to birds of prey. Check out our website at volecontrol.com for more information.

The Idaho Extension has a plan to build two Barn Owl nest boxes from one sheet of exterior plywood. Place it 8 feet high and orient the entrance away from the prevailing Winter wind. Make the entrance oval no more than 4 x 5 inches. Yes, the bait is effective when you have an infestation requiring immediate attention. However if an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, then a nesting pair eating more than 3,000 voles in a five month nesting period should be considered by rural landholders everywhere. Ticks need hosts. Small warm blooded mammals not only host ticks they are disease reservoir. Barn Owls will suppress the tick host population. California vineyards place them at one per 26 acres and Florida sugar cane fields one per 57 acres. This reduces the food for coyote and pit vipers too.

Great idea, but sometimes more is needed to combat a vole infestation. We sell Kaput Vole Bait with our bait stations which is the least toxic poison on the market and does not pose a threat to birds of prey.

Stop using poison. It gets into the food chain of wildlife. Trap them.

Is this system for MOLES or VOLES? We have a serious vole problem, with tunnels all over the yard, and I want to avoid them dining on my dahlia and other cut flower roots. I have never seen a hole, just many tunnels. My dog did get one, and it was a mole. Thanks

Hi Tammi, haven't checked KZbin comments in a while. Sorry for the very late response. The system and apple test described in the video is for identification of vole activity. You can learn more about the difference between Moles and Voles on our website at volecontrol.com

@@volecontrol Hi there. Just curious how you can tell the difference between chipmunk and vole activity. The tunnel entrances in your video look exactly like the ones round my foundation that chipmunks use. I would also think that chipmunks, field mice etc. would be as happy to eat the apple or bird seed as the voles. I've never seen a vole, but many of my bushes are dying off and wondering if they might be at play here..

I purchased your vole control bait stations. They are well made, reasonably priced, and shipped quickly and accurately. Nice job! However, one thing that did not work for me was the apple sign test. I could never seem to get a positive sign, but I sure called the ants out from their hiding places! Per your video, if the apple doesn’t work, you recommend bird seed. The whole point is to find where the voles are active so there is no time wasted. What worked for me was using the kaput bait directly in the vole holes. In the locations where the bait was disturbed, I set up a bait station and kept adding bait until there was no more activity. By using the kaput bait to find the active holes, there is ZERO time wasted. Kill them all, kill them instantly!

Thanks for sharing your experience, Mark. Haven't checked KZbin comments in some time so just seeing this and responding. Be sure to do the Systematic Search in you yard twice a year - Fall and Spring to be sure there isn't a resurgence of voles.

I have voles, moles, and gophers. The goohers and moles I can gas because they make mounds so I can pinpoint their nest. The voles seem to stay underground mostly and my cats catch them from time to time. Poisons work on occasion in the right areas but I cant seem to kill the pest. I have tried traps by thier entrance holes with a bucket for cover but they wont fall for it even with new traps and gloves on.... peanutbutter, cherry pits, tried fruity bubble gum. They are a HUGE pain.

I inadvertently flushed out a family of voles watering my sister's neglected trees. I left the hose on and flooded their tunnels.

FINALLY I found out what is causing the spongy ground in the acre of land I bought! I was told it was MOLES, but apparently it's VOLES. Now I know what I'm up against and I can treat my yard for the right type of critter. A million thanks, and yep, I subbed!! (And gave a thumbs up.)

Did I hear you right? You said use mixed birdseed, so they'll eat bird seed? I have two bird feeders in my yard where I've seen activity, Please inform me if thats the problem or is it because of my neighbors apple tree being just 3 feet from my property, on other side of the privacy fence, I noticed they do come from her yard, tunneling under the fence.

The voles may be attracted to fallen birdseed in your yard. Checkout our habitat modification page on our website at volecontrol.com . Click the Education tab and then the Vole tab to get there.
