Critical moment of the flight. I repeat mechanically to be focused. The military in that airport doesn't allow us to ever touch the runway. Only low passes. 🫥

@marcellocicchini152Ай бұрын
Glad you asked! Ground effect is the increased lift and reduced drag an aircraft experiences when flying close to the ground. I was flying over the runway at a few feet from it the whole length. I was kinda floating over the runway.

I think you basically did all the same things I would, get in contact with ATC in case you lost both transponder and radios. Eg you can't squawk 7600 if you have a dead battery. Turn off all unnecessary avionics and equipment. I had a alternator failure the lesson before my first cross country solo. My instructor took me through all the procedures how to handle alternator failures since my XC was in the same aircraft (after it had been through maintenance). The XC was uneventful though.
@marcellocicchini1523 ай бұрын
Yes, but watching myself helped me analyze my actions and learn a priceless lesson. I jumped the "circuit breaker in" step in my checklist. That action could have it fixed.
@user-fc2ho7hu7g3 ай бұрын
I live in the Seattle area, and given your position north of Whidbey NAS, I would have probably looked to divert to Anacortes or Skagit rather than continue to Paine Field. Your call as PIC, but over water with no apparent PFD, and a setting sun (harder to spot you if you had to ditch), and I am taking a more conservative approach. At least I would have turned east to get over "the mainland" and then reevaluated going to Paine. Happy it worked out for you.
@marcellocicchini1523 ай бұрын
There was no risk to affect the engine so I was able to continue, conserving battery by turning unnecessary lights off in order to keep radios running.

I don't understand the emergency. squawk 7600 for radio, or don't. in controlled space you need that anyway and they'll see the code. no biggy. I trained in agriculture areas where no one had radios. no problem. your engine is heathy, clear skies. sounds like a dream come true! keep flying and count the blessing. remember... aviate first, navigate, communicate.
@marcellocicchini1523 ай бұрын
Yeah. 7600 didn't apply cause I had radios. Conserving lights to keep radios running until destination. Thanks for your advice!!¡😀

Strike emergency, insert dilemma. No way is loosing an alternator in vfr conditions an emergency of any kind.

Not ideal to be flying with no radios. And an alternator failure may not be just an alternator failure and it might be the sign of something else going bad

No harm in that, fuck that guy wanna be maverick.. You can tell by his handle. He is probably not even a real pilot if he is. He clearly takes undo risk and is clearly displaying a hazardous attitude here. @@marcellocicchini152 Declaring an emergency when you don't have one is a lot better than not declaring when you actually do have one.
