IIRC, "whistling arrows" were relatively rare on the battlefield. The size and shape of the heads made them impractical for killing, the most you would get is a volley or two at the beginning to scare the enemy, or one or two arrows as audible signals

It's effective on the battlefield for signals and scaring the enemy. Especially when a group of 30 men can scared off an undisciplined army. You hear thousands of those. You'll shit ur pants on the battlefield depending on the weather, conditions, the terrain.

If only-there's few places in the UK you can legally & safely shoot at long range. Used to have a huge field near me, very remote, practically unknown but a riding stable bought it some years ago & it's all horse paddocks now. Think I enjoyed seeing how far each bow/arrow combo could go was the most enjoyable archery of all.
