I have been cutting/styling my hair for years due to stylist always wanting to go the straightening route. I have had to ask in advance and have muted myself just to redo my entire hair at home before. Yup😂

This is why I stopped going to “professionals” to cut my hair 15 years ago. I cut it myself, and I know what I’m doing for my hair!

This has been my experience all my 49 year life!!!!!! I have now resorted to going to the hairdressers with my hair straight for a dry blunt trim in order to get a decent cut. Then I go home wash it and style it myself. I’ve had some terrible experiences I’ve left with my hair wet and tied back and gone home to put product in. They don’t have time to Diffuse and never have product !!!

Finally, someone who feels my pain, I gave up trying to go to a hair salon. I had to go home and re-do my hair after spend money on professional styles

I’m a white girl, with fine wavy hair. I went to a salon for highlights and a cut once and after I was done with my highlights and cut she asked how I wanted my hair styled I asked her to diffuse my hair. I walked out looking a HOT MESS! the stylist had course curly hair but she didn’t know how to do fine wavy hair. I guess she did what she does with her curly hair.

Glad I'm not the only one who has had to restyle or trim my hair after getting it cut! I had an appt that was WAY too expensive and I told her it looked uneven, and she had the audacity to say "well you said you didn't want to take off too much length." Ummm yeah, but I never said I wanted it to be uneven! So I had to trim more on one side to make it even, and I did end up losing length because of her since the other side was shorter and had more layers than the side I had to fix. She was also sitting down for most of the appt while cutting my hair, which I found very odd and it probably why it was uneven. She didn't have a broken leg or anything, so I don't know why she sat down. I wouldn't have rewashed/restyled it, but whatever product she used was SO fragrant I couldn't stand it. I thought the scent would go away over time, but the next morning it was just as strong and my pillow smelled like it too, so I had to completely rewash since the smell was way too much for me. I don't blame her for that part, but I have had to rewash my hair after a different appt before since the stylist wouldn't listen to me when I told her thick products do not work for my low porosity hair type. She just globbed some weird product on my hair and it was just sitting onto of my strands, so she had to wash that out. Whatever she used next was better, but it still wasn't great so I had to rewash and style the next day. UGHHHH. I'm going back to straightening my hair before getting a trim, I don't trust anyone with my curls!!!

GIRLFRIEND!! I am literally styling my hair after going home with it WET last night after getting it cut, highlighted and “styled”. He attempted to style my hair by his method, which was plopping and sticking me under a hairdryer. He didn’t even scrunch and diffuse! And he was a “professional Rezo stylist”. Another point I have to make is that of course curly hairstylist has to become a specialty because that’s how these companies learn they can make a lot of money. Hence the Deva cut, the Rezo cut, etc.. and the stylist are ok with it too bc they now get to charge more for a cut and color!! Love you and this video! Well said! I have 3C curls and the number of stylist that can’t do anything decent with my hair is sad! I used to always go home and re-wet my hair and style it myself. Paying top dollar and getting crap in return. I finally found an awesome stylist at Ulta who actually knows what to do with curly hair. My stylist turned me onto the gel and it's now my new favorite. Gives me great hold with virtually no crunch. Just ordered the No. 5 leave-in the other day. I've been unimpressed with No. 6 in the line, but I hope the leave-in doesn't disappoint.

Literally EVERY TIME I am getting my hair cut, I am terrified!! Any time I actually let someone cut my hair, I usually bring my own hair styling products and tell them I AM GOING TO STYLE MY HAIR MYSELF. I'm not going to go back home and REWASH & STYLE my hair after I have just PAID someone to do it!! I have high porosity hair and it takes A LOT of product to get the kind of hold I am looking for. I am a model and one of two things happens on photoshoots, their hair stylist does my hair and it looks like SHIT because they “like frizz” or they ask me to come to set with my hair done (which i prefer) but everyone else gets their hair done, so I don’t get the experience of getting mine done because no one knows how!

Hi Bianca, I had to respond again, because Curly hair is not difficult to do, when it's our type, or looser silkier textures. I think for us blacks that are mixed we would have to go to the Latina's to get our curls styled. Blacks that have 4a to 4c know nothing about styling our hair type, because it's much silkier and softer. Our hair falls in line with straight hair, but it's just curly. They know how to do it, but in my opinion they just don't want to, because jealousy gets in the way, which is sad to me in this day and age.

Hello Bianca, I believe the black stylist does not know how to do our mixed textured hair, because our curly texture is silkier no matter the curl type. There really is a big difference. Thanks!
