I like this bike but I'm torn between this an the honda st 1300. I love the way this looks it weighs less better gas mileage. But will it last 300,000 miles? Like the honda would?

Random question. So between this Honda and a 1998 jeep cherokee, how would you rate it as a commuter?

Old Wings rule. I rode my buddy's Tiger and loved it but way too expensive for me and too much electronics. Think I'll just keep my Wing. You mentioned heated grips. I put cheap grip heaters that lace onto the grips. What a difference when it gets cold. I can ride in any weather with warm hands. I am going to get full heated grips with a temp control. Mine are on or off. In mild weather I have to keep turning them on and off.

Had a 1980 1100 and rode it for 12 years had 100,000 miles on it when I sold it. Have a 1200 now and like it much better. Lots of service is easier. Carbs are easy to remove. The fairing is great in the winter but an oven in the summer. Coming off. The 1200 runs smoother than the 1100 and warms up quicker. I heard that Honda originally called the naked Wing a sport bike. Fully loaded Wing rides more like a dump truck and carries almost as much. I have gotten up to 200 miles on a tank of fuel (ran it empty once) I'm planning on removing the fairing this year. Tired of the heat. Saddlebags and top box have to stay. I use them all the time.

It burns ankles, because the pipes are routed up to the front first and then reverse to the rear. Any owner should want a tweak to better the situation. I have seen air inlets and removal of radiator shroud. An easy starter. It has a soft waterpump seal by design and the external alternator can be a concern, not outliving the bike. I can not see a problem with speed wobble and the frame was made little different in later years. The shock is adjustable in both height and its pre-tension, perhaps you did not find this little hole in the frame on the right. Try the three presets and see how the rear bounces differently. Nevertheless the weight of the ST1300 is enormous and therefor the model is no match to racing bikes or adventure models on the highway. Gearbox operating and clutch working will differentiate the model between supersport and commuting behavior. My bike has not learned the top speed in only seconds thing as of yet. Just tour, no sport/tour.

Recently found a mint 650r on marketplace and have loved riding dual sport style. I crank single track then cruise 60+ on the hwy back home. Super fun bike! Many people say it’s heavy, but coming from a yz250x the extra weight is really nice for the higher speed riding

I had a 2016 R1250R, I got rid of it within a year because the gear box was so horrible, the bike felt like it was going to break in half every time you shift into 1st. 2nd and 3rd gears w ere slightly better . Shift assist pro was excellent in the upper 3 gears. BMW dealer said I would get used to it like everybody else. I understand BMW has fixed the issue on the later models.

Yeah, I was afraid I was getting ripped off on an 08 EX with 152,000. The previous owner did replace a lot of parts including brand new Hankook all-terrain rated for snow tires +alignment=I don't know why those were put on there being that this vehicle is coming from Texas but it's good in my case cuz I live in a snow state. New rotors/brake pads all around, new tie rod ends all around, 4 new motor mounts, all new door checks, fresh oil change. Originally she was asking $9,000, then eventually she dropped it down to $7,500. After going back and forth we settled on $7,000-a Texas Element it's whole life so absolutely no rust(looks like fine silverware undercarriage)& the paint is in pristine almost showroom condition as well as the black molded trim pieces along the entire exterior looks almost brand new with no fade, black paint black trim love it. Sold my 03 Jeep Wrangler TJ to get this Honda, the only reason I did that is because I own a pot-bellied pig who I like to travel with in the vehicle when I go run errands,, now my pitbull and my pot belly pig can go with me everywhere.

I had both. I love both!! Definitely had its pros and cons.but I like the xB more for its reliability. Element was great too but HATE the clunk noise from the suspension. I still think the xB engine is more reliable than the element. But I love the tailgate from the element 😫… such a hard choice. Currently have an SC element but thinking about giving it to my nephew. My dumb but did finance it, so he’ll be taking the responsibility IF I let it go. Currently I need new mounts, I have a leak from the oil pan. Suspension must be changed. Need control arms for both sides. When I had the xB, I rarely had problems!!! This is actually my 3rd element, and I had identical issues in all of them. And that’s why I choose the xB over the element. Not by much though…

Hi, 25 years old FJR owner here, I'll leave my experience with the bike down here for anyone interested (I'm from Italy so there may be some grammar mistakes, please forgive me). I rode my father's 2007 model for over a year & 15k km. I loved it, it was the first big Sport Touring bike I rode (at that time I owned a Moto Guzzi Breva 750 heavily equipped for 4seasons-long range touring... you can easily tell the FJR was a better bike for that kind of use). Then I bought a used 2020 FJR1300AE (in the European market that's the one with electrically adjustable suspensions) and I can say it feels and handles like a completely different bike. They weigh the same at around 300kg but the older made you feel that weight much more while riding. Also, the rear shock was never right, it was either too soft or too hard for the load & use I made of the bike, now with electronic adjustments it is always right, especially for me as I often change loads (I use it every day but only occasionally with a passenger and/or full bags). As far as comfort's concerned, I don't have any particular problem with it (maybe... maybe a tiny bit of butt-soreness after a few hours of riding, it depends on the kind of roads I'm riding onto) but I find everyone has their own experience on this topic, so there's no point in any further explanation. The 2007 had a tricky throttle response, it was like off/on and it made me sweat around tight corners in the mountains because you never knew when it was going to punch if you accelerated from a completely closed throttle, at any RPM but especially lower (in most cases I just had to ride slower, just being careful not to drop it) while the 2020 is way smoother and never had me worried about throttle response (btw I always use Sport mode because I only find Tour mode useful if you need extra smoothness in the wet... which you don't need because in Sport it is perfectly manageable anyway). The first time I rode the newer model it felt like a bicycle compared to the old one in terms of handling, so I basically bought it because of that and the mentioned smoother throttle. Now I've had it for 2 years & about 30k km and I would never change it with any other bike on the market (though maybe I'd like to test ride the BMW K1600GT... never say never). Yes, it is a bit tricky filtering through heavy traffic, and yes it is a bit warm in summer if you are forced to ride at low speeds (say below 50km/h), but I think overall I could not find a more suitable bike for my needs without spending more than double what I paid for it. Granted, I’m not the sportiest rider, I can confidently say I almost never rev over 5k RPM (‘cause I don’t need to), and in normal everyday use I find the FJR’s engine just beautiful to be used between 1800-3500RPM, but I like to ride twisty roads in the mountains at a certainly not-entirely-legal pace (ehm, am I allowed to say that?) and the 2020 FJR is just way easier for that than the older 2007, and even easier than anyone would think a 300kg bike to be. Obviously it’s not going to be faster or easier than any streetfighter bike out there, but as far as big Sport Tourers (real ones, not crossovers!) are concerned I honestly think it difficult to match, not only at its price point. I personally think if someone would want an FJR they should buy one of the latest models (2016+ have 6th gear, cruise control & other improvements over the old ones), possibly with electronic suspensions, UNLESS they rode an older model and found it of their liking. All in all, wether one likes it or not depends on one's needs and habits.

I bought my 2015 XT brand new, it has 30k miles and have toured, communited and also offroaded it. I’m 5’9” @ 155lbs. I can keep up with BMW GSA’s and other larger ADV’s and completely obliterate them on twisties. Never have had one single tiny issue with the bike whatsoever. If you’re looking for a V Strom get the 2015 650xt, upgrade the crash bars and Nash plate. They go for about $3800 currently
