Don't be nervous buddy just have fun making the video

I appreciate the encouragement, but what makes you think I’m nervous? Across a few different KZbin channels, I’ve made hundreds of videos, so I’m not nervous at all. Excited? Yes. Pumped up on caffeine? Yes. Nervous? Not at all. Thank you so much for watching, and I do appreciate the comment.

Thanks for the review. Do you know if you can remove the piston for maintenance?
@pensane4 күн бұрын
I made a half-hearted attempt to remove the piston, but gave up as I didn’t want to ruin the pen. I emailed Monteverde asking them about it, but haven’t heard back. I’ll be sure to do an update video when I find out. Being able to remove the piston on this pen is essential. Thank you for the question!

can the nib be rotated? the twsbi clone wingsung 3008 allows you to rotate the nib.
@pensane6 күн бұрын
I was hoping it could, but it’s keyed. Now you have me curious about the 3008! Thanks for watching.
@UrbanHafner9 күн бұрын
Are the nib and feed keyed? If I can I usually rotate the nib, so that the facets in such a grip actually line up correctly for me.
@pensane8 күн бұрын
Oh, thank you, Urban! I checked just now. It was worth a shot, but unfortunately, it is keyed. That would have been a life changer. Good to hear from you!

This is really amazing! I like the paper in the Kokuyo Campus and Soofa, but I believe the Kokuyo Business is a better grade of paper (and the Campus paper is fine…not made for fountain pens, but I don’t have problems writing on them, and they have no issues with fineliners, highlighters, gel pens, Zigg dot markers, etc. I’ll definitely pick some of this up. I’ve been wanting to start doing some sewn bookbinding and this would be a great paper to try! I have a question: Since coloring with the pen will also wear on the paper making it more likely to bleed, I wonder if you’ve tried a heavy, medium, and light swatch with a Q-tip to see if that bleeds through at all?
@pensane9 күн бұрын
Oh, I haven’t tried that. I stopped using Q-tips in favor of one of those calligraphy dip pens with the circle on the end. But it’s worth a shot using a Q-tip to test it. You have me curious! Thanks for watching.

Nice thing about the Majahn T1 is it's pretty easy to swap out the nib with most other #6 size nibs. I have a Kaigelu long knife nib in mine, and it's pretty cool.

Goorgeouspen, and nice review. About the skip on the down stroke sometimes, could be what I do when that happens for me, maybe the od skip could be from slightly rotating the pen. I know that happens with a couple of my pens when I accidentally rotate it a little.
@pensane18 күн бұрын
I bet you’re right, and I’m not surprised. I may have to be a little more mindful when writing with this pen. I would love to get a broad nib in this pen, though. So I may still change the nib. Thank you for the kind words!

Platinum Preppy's are great pens, but I personally like the Pilot Kakuno (clear model) over the Preppy. I added a Kaweco Sport clip. It is a smooth, wet writer for a fine nib size, plus I can fully disassemble it for cleaning after using a shimmer ink. I once had visable ink trapped in a preppy and it drove me crazy because I couldn't access it. Smiley faced nib FTW. 🙂 I have Platinum Carbon Black dedicated to a Platinum Procyon.

I have had about 10 Preppy’s and have found ones that I haven’t touched in a few years and they write off the bat every single time. I’ve never had a Preppy have a hard start, except for one 02 (which is horribly scratchy and probably has a bad nib.) I think the Kakuno is really cute and love the smiley face, and I like the larger diameter grip, but anything with a tripod grip on it is a hard NO for me. I have a Pilot Prera (which uses the same nib as the Kakuno minus the smiley face, bummer) and it is a wonderful pen with a butter smooth 1.0 CM nib (Prera’s, Metropolitans and Kakunos all use the same nib, I believe) but obviously, a 1.0 CM isn’t the same as an F. However, I’d try smoothing that nib out. You could try a different ink with the Preppy (just eyedropper it, I use them for that a lot…something the Kakuno can’t do) and see if it works better, cause they’re known for being able to sit around forever and still flow smoothly with no hard starts. Another good comparison might be the Kakuno vs the Kaweco Perkeo, both are similarly priced and made for (originally at least) school kids.

Funny thing is I didn’t use it for over a week, and today it started right up and wrote beautifully! Go figure. Thanks for watching.

My suggestions: Flair Ink Tanker, Cello Fountain, Hauser Germany Grip it,Hauser Cyber. Cool fountain pen these are wonders. Have similar controlled flow ink system of Platinum preppy and Grip it looks similar to Lamy Safari. You would get 3 free cartridges and converter with these pens and flair ink tanker would get extra ink tank.

Thanks for the recommendations! I’ll definitely have to check those out.

In India we have Cello pens better writing than Platinum preppy for 50Rupees. While platinum preppy cheap pen with similar controlled flow ink mechanism is available for 500plus ruspees. Kakuno is available here for 1000rupees plus while better pens like click aristocrat is available starting 350rupees , can get half ebonyte or full acrylic for 700rupees.

Sorry about that! I’m a bit out of practice making these videos. My next video is going to be a review of the Ensso Bolt, and I’ll probably compare it with the Eclipse.
