I'm (not) sorry - 275lbs capacity is NOT safe for a human + dog (AND gear.) You should only be using 70-75% of the capacity weight suggested for safety. That means a 275lb capacity is actually 206lbs max carry load, so unless you and your dog and gear weigh less than that combined, hard pass. I'm not messing around with safety on the water. And I can't imagine instructing people to do so.
