I have no idea why, but my game crashes when I overwrite the map. I just wanted to update my world after getting some of the DLCs. To be clear I have copied the map from an old save and I am attempting to load it into a new save with a new planet. (while ideally keeping the colonists)

never mind It turns out you just game over if you overwrite the prexisting pawns, the game wasn't crashing it was just the failure condition

This is really awesome. When I made a sunroof cave map, I was like "obvious island in the middle with anima tree, clear banks to defend". You've really made the sort of "Work with what you've got" feel of rimworld shine, with a few scattered sun chambers and a proper cave system to explore. Well done.

I really like how this looks, but when i tried to install the map it warned me a virus was detected on it.

Hm, that’s weird. I haven’t gotten that alert yet. It may just be your web browser or antivirus tagging the zipped file. All the file contains is the .rws file, which is a rimworld save file. It may be possible it sees that as an unknown file type.

You are all good. All I’ve really done is make a rimworld save, same thing you load into when continuing your saves. If you take the .rws file and drop it into your saves folder (which you can easily access in settings), you can then go to load saves and find it in there.

Whats the mod for the map design? Also this is epic map, maybe show us a playthrough on it?

For the base map I use the mod Map Editor. But for the rest it’s all dev tools. The only assisting mod for development is Vanilla Expanded Framework because it adds the Make Rock command which I like, but you can do it in vanilla with Spawn Thing. Set terrain is vanilla.

Once again a magnificent map, but I find that not putting an ancient security turret, ruined tank or the ancient mega-cannon barrel (is that seriously the name? Really Rimworld?) is a missed opportunity. Notably for the "mega cannon" which could have been the bastion's artillery.

You can use Buildable ancien ruin for the ancient tank and other. And for the turret, i don't think you can spawn ennemy turret so colonist will be safe. Also if they don't have power they don't work And third, ancient security turret (from ideology) are ruin, theu can't be restore or work

so i would love to see a Mountains of Madness inspired Glacial Hollow from the Biomes! Caves mod. The glacial hollows are incredibly boring, and I really thin you would make an incredible lost city/town locked beneath the icy flows inhabited only by the giant woolly spiders, depth penguines and polarbears. Im trying to do what you do here, but im not as good as you. My map is very meh. Do you have to be constantly clicking, or is there a tool/mod you use to just paint the tiles on? <3

I will definitely have to check it out, although I mostly just stick to vanilla biomes and such. I have a drawing pad and an auto clicker. I set the auto clicker to repeat a bunch of clicks and then just use my drawing pad to draw it over. It isnt 100% but its pretty good.

It would be great to see a guide on how to do something like this. With a mod for custom map borders, it would be possible to make the map even bigger and more beautiful. Although something tells me that even my powerful computer would not be able to handle such a load

Maybe my favorite after Jungle flow. Could you make a crater or fjord map? These are generally my two favorite types of geological landform maps and I'm curious to see how you would lay them out

It's really hard to do this kind of detailed design with a generator, you'd need a series of them and even then weird things may happen.

Those mechanoids are absolutely diabolical for anyone being given this map for a blind run. Cracking open one of the larger pyramids would instantly end the run in the early game.

Had to make them a challenge. Since there is a lot of soft sand in areas, that one serves as a possible base expansion. But you have to fight the ancients.

It’s actually very simple, you take the zip file I provided on GitHub, extract it into your rimworld save folder. Then you go ingame and load it as a normal save. You can change my set colonists with the mod Character Editor, or use the mod Save Maps to copy and paste it onto your own save. You can see a video for that on my channel.

Haha yes the map before is Sacraficial Altar, based around the Ideology DLC and a tribal start. I do recommend it. Although it is a cold bog.

All the ground will stay the same, you are basically just copying all terrain and just pasting it over.
