Hello and thank you for posting. Huge help! I will be coming down from Georgia and kayak fishing that area the week of Christmas. Lmk if you want to get out. Did you put in at Lorna’s Folly Bridge and go north up Salt River? Trying to pinpoint best jump off point. Thank you!
@naturecoastinshorefishing4397Күн бұрын
@@justinsincyr7754 The route you outlined is a good winter route, just did that yesterday. Had a real good day with trout, about 2 dozen keepers. Video in a couple weeks. There are a lot of options launching at the bridge, feeder creek short cuts etc. but if you stay on the main river you’ll find your way back! There are 2 other public launches on Ozello Trail, each offers different types of fishing. Get yourself a Christmas present and go out with fishheadkayakcharters.com. What type of kayak are you fishing from? What days are you looking at fishing? You fishing bait or artificial?

Hey man i went out of yankeetown the other day and tooled around a bit, only caught a small catfish. You got any preferences on where to go out from like the boat ramp during different tides or just in general? The wife is gonna kick me out if i dont bring back dinner next time after how much money i spent to go fishing😂

@@KirkMcGirk what launch did you use? I am assuming you were using bait.
@KirkMcGirk4 ай бұрын
@naturecoastinshorefishing4397 went out of bird creek beach. Not sure if there are better places to launch a kayak or what. Typically just use lures. A spook and mirrodine are my go tos for the most part, but I threw a zman mulletron my friend gave me for awhile that caught me the cat. Only have two rods at the moment so I try to not be changing.
@naturecoastinshorefishing43974 ай бұрын
@@KirkMcGirk Catching the cat threw me, usually a sure sign of bait. If launching from Bird Creek Beach head east (left) then after the 2nd big island turn north towards Kelly Creek. This is where I start fishing the north bank at the turn, then the channel, bars and shore towards Kelly Creek. Then fish the south shores in Kelly creek, points, creeks, oyster bars, and islands in the creek, then on the way back repeat on the north. Just hit all those fishy spots, explore the small creeks. Summertime is tough, keep that in mind. If you noticed, no videos from me lately. Fish your favorite soft plastic, 4” paddle tail darker colors for Yankeetown. Top water in the morning, or mirrodines all day along side channels little deeper water etc. Route is on Google maps.

@naturecoastinshorefishing4397 yeah I did notice. Was looking for one to see if I could recognize any summer spots next time i go out lol. @naturecoastinshorefishing43976 ай бұрын
I like it well enough. I’ve owned Jackson Cudas - fast and fish well. I still own a Jackson Big Rig it’s a small battleship, very stable, very fishable. I own 2 SS127s found them on FB marketplace for under 1k each were only 2 years old. The Bonafides don’t track all that well and they sit high on the water. Best kayak I bought for under 1k.
@KirkMcGirk5 ай бұрын
@naturecoastinshorefishing4397 you got any kayaks you'd compare it to or wish you'd have gotten instead? (That preferably aren't like a hobie or sportsman or something way more expensive) Right now I'm stuck between the ss127 and the vibe shearwater 125, but im also being tempted to save a couple hundred bucks and go with like a vibe yellowfin 120 that there's a ton of on face book Having a hard time making my mind up and I been researching kayaks like non stop for like 2 whole months now lol
@naturecoastinshorefishing43975 ай бұрын
@@KirkMcGirk had a vibe sea ghost that wasn’t too bad. Buddy had a wilderness I fished a lot, it was a good kayak. The only thing I don’t like about the Bonafide is that they are not all that fast. Takes a bit of effort to move them over the water, I paddle, no motor. The stability still carries the day for me though. I hung on the vibe for quite a while, you can stand in it. The type of fishing I do standing is everything. If I didn’t have to stand the Jackson Cudas are nice. Some guys can stand in them, I could not.
@naturecoastinshorefishing43975 ай бұрын
@KirkMcGirk I went through my share of kayaks. I resold all of them broke even pretty much over the years. Go with your gut, the worst that can happen is that you'll go fishing. While you're doing that keep an eye on what was your 2nd choice and if you see a deal that's too good to pass up, well get it. Try it out and sell the one you like the least. The key is waiting for the deal though.
