There is a Methane plant in Tagekistan which produces the same amount of pollution per year as the whole of Britain. The world needs an engineering task force to oversee the rehabilitaion of such places., its either that or we are pissing in the wind, even more pollution.

All new social housing should be banned from the open market permanently. This would encourage developers to build more as social housing would not negatively affect house prices. It seems that for urban areas repurposed office blocks could eleviate housing shortages quickly. I live in West Cornwall we have far too many residential properties used for tourism rather than as homes, we dont have that much space to build on and the tallest building allowed is 3 storeys high normally

You can't heal the world with finance and policies. Every action that is implemented by every country participating is not working. They are trying to capitalize on global climate change making things much worse for everyone. Every single person on this planet affects the climate. Transitioning to solar and wind which is free energy and people have to pay for it. There are communities, cities and state taxation on home owners for using solar instead of national grids. There are suburban areas that restrict people from using solar. Everyone is trying to make money repetitively everyday on anything they can to make profits and its cause chaos around the world. Wealthy investors continue to buy up the market components for sustainable solar homes and prices soared out of reach for 75% of the world. Inflation and cost of living is rapidly causing global climate change. Money solves nothing and thats the problem. The world is putting money first and thats what people are programmed to do by the governments of the world. The people that are in power to make real change in the world are only thinking about money and how they can make more money. Eventually the world will become inhospitable for all life and the past 100 years has showed that its coming if the world doesn't change. How many animals have gone extinct? Look at the livestock statistics and migration patterns of marine life. The buffalo is almost gone. The deer population is shrinking. Bears are disappearing. How many species have almost gone extinct in the past 100 years? Its a sign of over population and waste of resources. The demand for money is an addiction across the world and that caused global climate change. how many planes fly every day? how many vehicles are on the road every day? Investments like cryptocurrency is driving energy costs up and water usage is insane for bitcoin mining. You have stock market prices with values far beyond what companies are worth with fraud manipulation driving inflation higher. We have data centers all around the world that will cripple the power grids from year after year of processing power advances. The world is facing a major crisis and to solve the problems of the future the monetary system has to be abandoned. A free economy has to happen. Taxes have to be abandoned. The economy is moving and growing extreme demand with billions of people on the risk of death from food shortages and clean water. Global climate changes all aspects of life and there is no second home for us to go until we build one on mars the moon and beyond. Expanding the human race throughout the universe is the only way to keep population down and create new homes for the future of humanity.

I'm researching terracing techniques (permaculture student) and this is a really interesting idea putting the swale at the "back" of the terrace, rather that the front. We can't use swales in the Auckland / Northland area of New Zealand as the clay soil is prone to saturation in the rainy season and can literally liquify and slide down the hill! Then in the dry season we have the opposite problem and the clay goes rock hard! But other areas should consider experimenting with this technique. I am thinking about experimenting with a compromise system though, with a shallow swale-like drain, letting the water flow out at the ends in the wet season but blocking the ends in the dry season to catch and hydrate the soil like a swale.

Wonderful video! What advise would you give a graduate student who intends to focus his research around the SDGs? Would you recommend an interesting research topic around the SDGs?
@IIEDorg Жыл бұрын
Our head of monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL), Stefano D'Ericco says: "I’d recommend focusing on the missing link between global international framework like the SDGs and implementation at the national level. Particularly on what is missing for the SDGs to trickle down to local action." Hope that helps.

its heteronormative because most of our movements are still focus on national civil rights advocacy, are programmatic in nature, affected by systems with weak democratic institutions, old colonial laws that criminalise same sex intimacy, live in small economies and are dependent on Foreign funding's that comes from the Global north. There is not or limited visible Global, regional, national advocacy around LGBT or even sexually diverse populations which focuses on, specifically economic inclusion and livelihoods.
@MrUnibam12 жыл бұрын
There is the need to recognise that cost of living, quarterly labor force, the impact of inflation, health surveys beyond HIV, surveys of income vulnerability, LGBT families, a population size estimate of LGBT citizens in small economies do not exist. So a national DATA strategy needs to be developed that is informed by country program framework.
@MrUnibam12 жыл бұрын
its important to note this discussion using a Euro-centric, developed economy lens that does not address the lived realities of regional colonial history, small economies that maybe be as small as 1.8b like Belize. A country that recently dismantle one of its many old colonial laws. Our sodomy law in 2016. However, economic rights like access to social security, state pensions for couples, barriers to borrow as couples and succession of ownership are left over issues that need to be acknowledged in national legislation.
