Hi, thanks for the comment. Yes, the Steadycam operation needs some power and strength. It is important to keep your back straight. To train that, break it down into shorter sessions. 5-10min. and than pause. Don’t turn you upper body to much, work with your body. Keep up you training and train you skills 😎

Hi Stefan. I have an HD 2000 ,just bought used, (my first ever glidecam ) Im using an Olympus EM1 MkII and sigma 16mm. I cant tell which is better. For balancing , extend base down with less weight or keep base short (closer to handle) with more weight. What is the best aoproach ? Thanks.
@StefanCzech9 ай бұрын
Hi kenyontech. Sorry for late reply. You are right. There are two ways to balance it good. Short and (more) heavy, or long and lighter. It’s your choice and how you feel it better for you. In the end, no one will care, how you have done it. The frame must be good. 😊

great product, but nowadays (2023), you don't have to use three of them!!, use the std {lightstream\lightstream lite} or tabletop version of the lightstream system, a mirror on a stick, or light stand, which adds the other fill and hair lights, NO more power used, just the 90 or so watt of the one lamp head!! ( but you do need a parallel beam intensifier in front of the light) - a serious product line, wow, see the effects they can do (more technically called an 'eflect' in the system nomenclature!), lightbridge is another brand, but each has an extensive set of videos, and wow, great job of showing this tech off to the rest of us.
@StefanCzech Жыл бұрын
Hi Andyvan. Thanks for your comment. I love Dedolight and ever will, but to be honest, „lightstream“ is a RIPOFF of an much better and more versatile system called „Kflect“ He you find my video for this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mn_KlXSqnpV3grMsi=QuosYkEkxgl8itxy Please look when I produce this video and than when DL came out with the copy of this. Btw, Kflect is much easier to handle but unfortunately not so well known. Best regards Stefan

Is there any reason why mine is so heavy? I can’t hold mine for a minute. Other than weak muscles. But, I’m not a weak guy, I can easily lift weights. But, this is a different type of strength. Is it common to take breaks during a shoot and hold the glidecam with both hands?
@StefanCzech Жыл бұрын
Hi Jcorpus, thanks for Your comment. First of all, let me know what setup you use. How much weight you put on the top-camera side and bottom plate. How high you build up. That’s often the reason for a lot of counter weight.

I only photograph and make videos of my birds to help others understand the complexities of Macaw aviculture. I am using a Canon 1Dx MK2 with a variety of lenses. The macaws are typically sitting on perches 2'-4' above me. It is difficult to hand hold this heavy camera/lens setup for an hour, especially because of their continual movement, and my need to walk around their aviary. Do you think the Glidecam would be a good choice for me based upon my link to a video I shot a few days ago? Thank you for your great training! kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z4eclY2smKalmac
@StefanCzech2 жыл бұрын
Hi, that is a good question. A 1DX is not a light camera, and with a Glidecam, it become more weight. But for movement it will work much better than handheld.

Vielen Dank!
@StefanCzech2 жыл бұрын

Hello Stefan! Thank you for these videos. I have a few questions regarding your recommended drop time of 1,5-2 seconds drop time: I see that several other sources (including the user manual of my Yelangu S60T) recommend 2-3 seconds drop time for these kind of stabilizers, regardless of the specific manifacturer/model. Is your drop time-recommendation only for Glidecam, or does it apply to other stabilizers of this kind as well? Have you experimented with slightly longer drop times as well? I was particularly surprised by your demonstration at 5:43, where the drop time seems to be approximately 1 second. That would be a pretty big difference from 3 seconds. I don't have a lot of practical experience myself, that's why I'm asking. Thank you in advance!
@StefanCzech2 жыл бұрын
Hi Freddd95, thans for you question. I know, there are a lot of fancy droptimes(DT) out there ;-). A DT of 2-4 sec. is most of the time too tricky for beginners. Noting bad on a 1.5-2 sec. DT. I never use longer than 2 sec. because it becomes to sensitiv. You see a lot of kids on YT, fighting not gliding with the Steadycam. Use the weight and the inertia of that weight to stabilize your camera.
