The R-42 was the first to come with factory air conditioning bought in the sixties, by the eighties they were in bad shape. Out of an eight car Train you were lucky if two cars had working a/c. The conductor ; i was one for 30yrs required two keys to operate the doors, a zone key and door key. They were mostly on the west end, or B line and the Brighton, or D line. The R-46 was the exclusive property of the E and F lines; a few ran on the N line, known as the seabeach line. The R-32 saw service on different lines in the B division. Did you know none of the lettered line trains can operate on the IRT, reason to wide and to long. That's why IRT cars are smaller and are used as work trains because they fit in both the A and B division.

I’ve taken the A train outside before. Last time was on July 24th, 2018. The one station I don’t like much is Hoyt street. It’s because I remember watching a video with one dumb ass news lady. To me, she was breaking the law. No news reporters allowed on the (A) train, or any other NYC subway line. It disturbs the people. The subway is for taking people places, not for asking people questions about stupidity. I wish the (A) could skip Hoyt street. That way the C and the G will only go there. Not everyone in NY takes the subway almost every day. Some walk, some drive, some take the subway, and some take a taxi.

The interior of the first car shown I remember those cars being used exclusively on the A trains. I believe they were issued in 1949. The even older cars I remember on the E line. The E line at one time was extended out to Brooklyn and Queens via Express to Euclid ave and far Rockaway during rush hours.
