They used to hold the Western Open golf tournament there decades ago, before it moved to Butler, then Cog Hill. The Western Open was the oldest PGA tournament but they ended it soon after they started the FedEx Cup playoff system. I went to the last Western Open. At the 23rd minute, Little Company of Mary Hospital, my Great Aunt lived a few blocks away. 34th minute, the broadcast towers for WVON radio on the NE side of 87th and Kedzie. 51st minute, we used to get off at the Beverly stop to visit my Aunts and Uncle's a few miles east of there. You turned left on Laflin a few blocks from where they lived, south of Brainerd Park. Thanks for the ride back home!

Love this hwy, couldn’t wait to get my license at the time then drive on it. My likes about it is I like the high traffic from all the semi’s and tourist seeing different license plates for a family vacation where it can makes memories a life time. Love the transmission towers, the country side, the mcness in Lodi then cascade mountain.

Interesting. Back in the 70's, Grandma's houses were in Evergreen Park, Homewood Flossmoor, Uncle in South Holland...so... To trip back on Army Trail rd. seems so foreign. My family moved to Louisville, KY. in late 1979. I was 13 yrs. old then. Been back for a few funerals and weddings. The cost of living is crazy high up there, plus after living in the foothills of the Apalachin mountains and the Ohio River Valley.... I always love coming back here though my hometown is Hanover Park.
