hey mate, i have a series 1 ve, its got a 2.25 inch xforce catback system, with quad tips, its abit quieter than i like, it has a mid section muffler, and 2 rear mufflers total, i was thinking swapping out the rear mufflers with hotdogs, or either deleting the mid section muffler and going with an x-pipe.. what would you suggest? cheers

I’d recommend trying hotdogs or smaller rear mufflers first man. Once you cut into the mid section it just becomes complicated if you don’t like it. Atleast with the rear end it just unbolts and is easy to change

Well, I pulled the pin on some Black Ops 3" J-pipes and put the aftermarket mufflers back on after three days. Way too loud and obnoxious with an upleasant rasp that I'm really not a fan off. Idle and cold start up sounded fantastic and aggressive AF, but for daily driving and on freeways they were far too loud and compared to the aftermarket mufflers I've got, inferior note-wise. I realised very quickly that with a cammed 6.0L with OTR, headers, 100 cell cats, an X-pipe and a 3" stainless catback, J-pipes are total overkill. Still, they only cost $265 so that's OK, but the aftermarket mufflers give me that deep, sonorous rumble I'm after rather than that attention-grabbing, ear-piercing rasp. I'll leave that nonsense to the V6 P plate crowd, I reckon and stick to a more grown up exhaust. But hey, if that's people's thing Im not going to judge. It just isn't my thing.

Hey mate I run the full black ops 3" system w/ headers myself. I have tried both the mufflers and the J-pipe deletes and found that the mufflers do sound the best in my experience. For me, the J-pipes made it clacky. sounded good lumping on the spot but yeah. With other mates that have the similar X-Force branded exhausts without the centre muffler, sound very similar. Hence the next thing I will try will be removing the centre muffler and running hotdogs instead maybe?? Overall, they do sound good either way.

Great video! Did you end up camming it and doing a new comparison vid? My 6.0L is cammed with OTR and a 3" catback and I'd be keen to hear what the J pipes sound like. Also, how's the drone at freeway cruising RPMs? I'm after more volume and growl but want to reduce increased drone as much as possible. And FYI, I'm a "50 year old bloke" so thanks for the shout-out 😂

Thanks man! We uploaded a video on the channel last week of the full cam package and how it sounds with the j pipes and 3 inch catback, makes a hell of noise under the pedal but inside the drone isn’t too bad at all

They sound the same on a phone or from the outside. But from inside the car you don't get the horrendous drone buzz with J pipes that kill your head.

Mine tick a lot. Sometimes you wonder if there's any other issue. They tick a lot when hot. I also think my headers and exhaust tick a lot. Do you get the same?

Would probably put it down to lifters over injectors man, I mean it could be but on my car it’s just the echo of ls7 lifters through stainless headers. And when the bonnets down you can’t hear shit. Also keep in mind we film with a crazy camera setup that has a massive rode shotgun mic. It picks up whatever noise is infront of it like crazy

@@jackstance can be exhaust manifold leak also If there is no metal in your oil when doing a service then it’s most likely not lifters and just injectors noise or exhaust leak . It’s a common issue this ticking noise in most LS .

Hey mate, I’m still running the stainless black ops 7th8th headers, black ops 100 cell cats, black ops 3” inch mid section, and 2.5” black ops J pipes. It’s obviously changed the idle note haha, but as far as driving I don’t notice it. Either way cammed or not they are give you a really nice loud sounding v8

@@FknFaction I have to say, compared to your previous exhaust video the cam made your exhaust note more "higher pitch" in a good way. Sounds way more angry than it did before. Also I work in that industrial estate and live around that area, might run into you oneday. I have a black VF SSV. I am pretty keen on doing a cam package soon too.

Incredible looking build, would love to have my WM like this one day it looks wicked!! Love that 2 tone interior too, really flows throughout and looks sick. Black ops makes a very good system for ls commies and the price point is very good. I’ve gone the big dollar DFP with headers on my built ls3 but my mates have black ops and they sound and perform no worse than mine on similar builds. Btw, nice car mate, love the wheels and stance!
