Anxiety could be a response to hyper mobility speaking of the reflexes, proprioception( try to walk on the unstable, painful joints day after day; think about your future and see no light, etc) Each case needs a thorough investigation and an individual approach. For people with EDS anxiety, most likely, would be a primary priority dysfunction ( a mother's pregnancy, the stress level during that period of time). One thing is for sure- the psychosomatic factors must be considered during a patient's health evaluation.

Creativity is about all I've got, but I can't do anything with it because of social deficits and burnout. Middle-aged with no job no friends no house no car, but I'm good. I wonder how a carnivore diet might help you. It has helped me immensely for the past 6 years. Maybe google "carnivore diet and schizophrenia " and Dr. Chris Palmer.

I have anxiety and hEDS, and the only drugs that ever helped me are the benzos. In the 1970s, I took Librium. In the 80s and 90s, and early 2000s I took Ativan. Since the 2020s, I've been on Klonopin. It doesn't take much of a dose to really help with my anxiety!

This idea that all autistic persons have incredible talent is so off. I’m very average. I’m a linear thinker. And that gets me in to trouble because I pass as NT. I’ve lived a life with people forever misunderstanding me. There is safety in silence and limited socialization.

I am an aspie with ADHD, OCD and dyscalculia. I consider myself an extrovert yet socializing with neurotypicals is draining to me, actually painful and I find myself unable to interact with them at all, majority of the time. I am much more creative and I hate small talk and dancing around truth. I despise liars and I love authenticity.

Its also a lot to do with procrioception. Your body cannot rely upon your proprioceptive sensors to tell you where your body, or a joint, or limb is in space or whether your body is going to adequately support you when you take a step etc etc, which is very disconcerting for your brain.

There is a definite link between the two, however its important not to overlook the obvious root dysfunction in the adrenal cortex. Examining the chronic "see saw" effect between the cortisol and estrogen is key. The constant slamming and bumping of the two between various episodes of fight and flight have a clear and distinct affect on the collagen production as well as connective tissue and this is where we can see hypermobility and even EDS come into play. Pregnant mothers with lifelong environmental stressors and trauma can affect not only her offspring but future grandchildren since the eggs are being formed during gestational periods in female fetuses. Need to look at the family history of chronic trauma and collagen mutations. Anxiety is simply a very tiny speck of the whole puzzle. Thank you for connecting the dots. Keep up the great research. ❤

I’ve been working on researching the nutritional side. I have hEDS and it really affects my life. To anyone reading this, get your Vitamin D and B12 levels tested. Also, take the methylated form of B9. Magnesium and K2 are other important ones to look into.

Are you in the Cusack protocol group yet? Lots of supplements there for EDS. Also I have a question maybe you could answer? Methylated B vitamins make me feel so tired which is the opposite of what I want. I’ve had to take Seeking Health’s methyl-free. Mind you my MTHFR test said I didn’t have it.

I've combined mental and medical healthcare in my practice as well. The diagnosis of hyper mobility has taken over what was called double jointed. I had no idea that I was double jointed until I had an accident, needed X-rays and physical therapy. My orthopedist and therapist asked whether or not I knew that I was and obviously, I didn't or I would've been more athletic than I am. Most children, if allowed to participate in sports or competitions will never need medication for anxiety which is related to muscle twitch. The child who's shaking their leg, fidgeting, talking a lot, always moving around, running, learns faster and on a higher level is not being challenged mentally or physically and needs an outlet for this energy, they are the dancers, musicians, runners, bodybuilders, football and soccer players, etc...all the way into old age. Their physiques are more muscular and they appear younger than they are, heal faster and have panic attacks/ anxiety when they are restricted from free range of motion or movement, for some hyper sensitives; even clothing will bring on anxiety or frustration. It's comparable to holding a 70 lb dog back from releasing his zoomies for 48 hours on a leash in standing position. I specialize in autism and anger management for children 17 and under and use a specific combination of therapies lasting 1 hour that can be used by parents at home or teachers, not one has ever needed a drug for 40 years. Some will also refer to this as having nervous energy, a nice long walk, bike ride, dance or a swim will quench the thirst of the large muscles.

Wow. I knew it. As another commenter says, it's all connected, but doctors don't know, so you get gaslighted. Which makes you more anxious! I'm autistic, which sometimes correlates with hypermobility, which I also have. I have a lifetime of mental health issues and SSRIs don't work with me. I have also long gotten dizzy on standing up. I'm perimenopausal too, and am going to try HRT next, and will look to treat the cause (lowering oestrogen), not the symptom (anxiety etc).

@@methree3821 sorry to hear. It must be a tough situation. Take care of yourself at all times no matter the situation. I’ve had to become guardian in order to force help on a loved one. Build evidence to support that need, take it to a prosecutor to assist with legal action. It didn’t work for me the first time until something horrible happened so stay persistent and hoping things get better bc they can.

Have had EDS for 15 years. I use the following and have no symptoms as long as I keep on it. You Theory Advanced Formula Collagen. It contains types 1,2 and 3. Tightens everything up, strengthens and regenerates damage quickly. I only take a half dosage after I train 1 to 3 times per week. I take it with a b complex with C, Taurine, Creatine, Moringa leaf, Ashwaganda root and d3 (this is my vitality regime). I only take half dosage of these as well. Tomatoes are the only food that I continue to try to limit in my diet. No matter the form, raw, canned, etc. I can feel the edge of the inflammation in my joints but NOWHERE near the former severity. I still love eating them and do but I increase my blueberry and ginger intake to compensate. Other than that I eat everything I want with no more pain, no more random headaches, no more random crazy charlie horse sessions wracking my body, no more"ibs" or stomach paralysis, no more joint slippage where things bend way out by accident and cripple me in that area for days or even sometimes weeks, no more random vertigo and dizziness. I still eat sugar, drink sprite frequently although I shouldn't and just finished some awesome beef vegetable stew with canned Diced tomatoes that I've worked on for the past 2 days. Really important to know that none of these supplements or any will work if you take a calcium supplement with them even multivitamins containing calcium. Every single one has been proven to severly limit digestion and there is only ONE that has any benefit for bone health. Every other has been proven to have absolutely no benefit, over and over, (yes I also tested this my self) in addition to preventing all other nutrients from being able to be absorbed. I have tested both calcium supplements and ingesting dairy (seperate occasions more than 50 times) when taking my supplements and in every instance, symptoms start to flair within a week as if I have not taken them. When I ingest dairy or my bone maker sup, it is now always at seperate times (usually a different day). I also have an immunity set. First a candida digester to clean out the gut build up and eliminate bloat. It has to be taken with 8 Oz of water and a totally empty stomach 20-30 min before eating. I was using candex but switched to the one in the picture and it seams to be working. The rest of my immunity set is AHCC, Sovereign Silver, Artemisinin, mushroom defense formula, b complex with C and Self heal. All again only half dosage and only once every other week. Last I keep my pro/pre biotic running with a berry drink I make using apple cider vinegar with mother and raw honey and also I use a probiotic yogurt(again dairy totally separate from anything else) I will send you pics of everything. Get me your address so I can send you a few days supply. I also fast almost every day. I am always up between 3 and 5 am and do not eat until 4 or 5 pm then again around 630 or 7pm

Here’s my guess: COMT anomaly. How many people with EDS have the COMT genetic mutation. Another possible comorbidity is MCAS, and if you have POTS, you most likely have MCAS too. Interestingly, COMT is a genetic mutation that affects detoxification- the end result of which is increased inflammation in the body and brain, amongst other things. And we know MCAS is a disease of the mast cells affecting the regulation of histamines etc. And what is a common symptom of an allergic reaction? Anxiety, panic, sweaty palms, drops in blood pressure. Beta blockers would not be ideal for everyone who has pots tho, for example I have a notable decrease in blood pressure at random and spontaneous times but mostly when I stand up. My cardiologist contraindicated that medication for me. I am focusing more now on my genetic mutations and gut microbiome to help my body detoxify better. However I would like to know more about the health of my neurotransmitters, can’t seem to find a doctor capable of this. I also have an Autism diagnosis.
