I live on a street corner and see cars every day and night running the stop sign. People in cars also think they have some kind of privilege because they think everything is built for them only. As others said, a cyclist wont kill anyone with their bike (very unlikely) compared to poluting, noisy and heavy cars. City must change to reduce car use and make this "cyclist behaviour" a non-issue.

I'm waiting for the pedal attachments to motorcycles so then they don't have to have a license.

2:30 - "Supposed to come to a full complete stop. Just like we do." - as the driver fails to come to a full complete stop and slow rolls the stop. At least in the US, in a number of states, you are now permitted as a cyclist to treat stops like a yield and may proceed if safe to do so. Given this cyclists speed I believe there was ample time for them to assess the intersection before entering and obviously there were no adverse effects. Honestly, had the cyclist come to a full, complete stop I'm sure you'd complain even more aboot how much they were holding up traffic.

New rules for cyclists that this province enacted is just another example of understanding the issue. They don't pay attention to the rules of the road and expect everyone else to be aware of them.

If you want to cycle on public roads, you should have to get a cyclists license. Anyone who uses the roads publicly needs to have a license, why not cyclists? I'd be willing to share the road, if they'd be willing to pay the appropriate fees the rest of us do. That means that they'd have to be educated on the rules of the road in order to pass. Just like the rest of us do. Or you know, make it legal for them to ride on the sidewalk. Look at all those sidewalks full of people in your video for example. Certainly allowing cyclists to use them would be unthinkable. The foot-traffic is just too high, people might get hurt! But dumping cyclists on the main road to slow others down and foment road rage in other drivers, that's much safer and progressive :)

Funny hearing someone saying "cyclists don't care they think they have special privileges" (5:05) Right after saying "why are you riding in the middle of the freaking road" (4:24) because they think as a car driver than only cars have the privilege of being in the center of a lane. And to top it off, then affirm "you are a vehicle when you are on the road, you are treated as one" (6:29), well apparently they are not really if you think they should be in the gutter for you to "safely pass" them, note that it means that you are asking them to let you, a complete stranger, decide of their safety. North America is really backward. And you know the running red lights thing. Well if you had actual bike infrastructure like having dedicated bike lights that let them get up to speed or bike buffer in front of the cars so they can position themselves in front of the cars to force them to not accelerate at the same rate, then maybe they wouldn't run red lights. Ultimately it is the same thing as staying in the middle of a lane. It is about being in control of their risk taking and not let someone else do it. If you are aware when going into an empty red light crossing because it is at the moment where all direction are at red. Then yes it is completely safer than to stop, and try to accelerate when there is a platoon of cars rushing by you to be stuck at the next light. Don't it strikes you as odd that all the cases you show us are actually when the crossing was quite empty and with no cars coming from the sides ? You might want to take the hint then. A car running a red light is dangerous to everybody on the road but a cyclist killing or permanently injuring anyone but themselves is a statistical oddity.

@griep5735 5 күн бұрын
I can somewhat understand the bitterness but all I can think about is how much better every single one of those situations would have been if there was just a single piece of half decent cycling infrastructure, which prevents the intermingling of cyclists and motorists, anywhere. (Mostly) not defending the behavior in the video however I think all of this is a symptom of ineffective urban planning.

suppose to use your left arm to signal going right ? it's whatver you prefer and most people assume you want to stop when using the left arm to signal right..
@daisydomergue9047
@daisydomergue9047 3 күн бұрын
In the 50's and 60's we were trained that to signal left your left arm went straight out, to turn right the left arm went out and up at the elbow, slow down or brake the left arm went out and down at the elbow. Back then you took a test and got a tag or a decal for your bike yearly if I remember correctly. Sometime in the last couple of decades the use of the right arm for a right became acceptable also. Interesting thing the out, up and down signals (right and stop) with the left arm are still acceptable for signaling in cars, especially when one of your turn signal bulbs (older vehicles) was burned out. In all my years of riding the use of the left arm up or down to signal would just confuse cars and trucks. I'd hazard the guess that the use of the right arm, would be and is a good thing.

Thanks for the educational video! Two questions if you don't mind. 1) At 6:37 after you turned onto Grandview Highway, I am not able to find any speed limit sign anywhere on google map, is it safe to assume we will keep driving at 50km/h? 2) At 9:54 there is the "School zone" sign on the right, does that mean we have to reduce the speed to 30km/h? Thank you!

@@spindrivingschoolbookedtil7125 Appreciate the info, very helpful video you linked about the school zone! About question 1 - what I meant was, at 6:37, does that location already counts as the highway at which you could start speeding up to 80 or 90km right after the turn, or it should still be the normal 50km/h until you reach closer to highway at like 6:50 which you then speed up to match the traffic? Thanks!

I failed my exam few weeks ago because when i turned right, the road was too wide and i thought it was 2 lane so im kinda leaned on the right side of the road and someone overtake me then the instructor told me it was a DA.. it was a few meters away from icbc. We were almost finished. I dunno.. it seemed to me the road test was always subjective to the examiner. Of course you have to do it right but i was always subjective to the view of the examiner..
