When I first played Sonic 3, I did find the special stages difficult but once you have played them enough, you can get them down better than all the other special stages in any of the other Sonic games I find. Like with everything, practice.

A software called mednafen. Really good one as it's emulates Playstation 1, Playstation 2, Sega Saturn, Dreamcast.....the list goes on. Have a look on Google. Make sure if you use it, download the BIOS on the Wiki page. This contains files that you need for it to run depending on which version you use (US, Japanese) etc.

Personally? I feel the collection is overpriced. There are better collections that have come before it and for far better value. The Sonic Mega Collection Plus and Sonic Gems Collection for example for PS2 were much better value, even at the time. Origins Plus does have the Game Gear titles but I wouldn't say it's enough of an incentive to get it when the Gems Collection covers that. You also have the Mobile and Android ports of Sonic 1 and 2 that have excellent quality of life changes. Although, Origins is now the only way to play Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Knuckles on modern consoles and Steam (as they have taken Mega Collection off it) so if you don't have access to the Mega Drive, PS2 or a PC for ROM emulation then there's an argument for buying Origins then.

Believe it or not, those ice pillars were glitched and had to be patched so I couldn't just pass through them as effortlessly as they were in the original. But I'm sure that it wasn't as much time that you decided to waste in deciding to write such a stupid and unproductive comment.

The newest one as in Oddworld: Soulstorm? Or New N Tasty? I've never played Soulstorm but it's the original vision of what Lorne Lanning's vision for Abe's Exoddus truly was. Ironic as Abe's Exoddus was the one game he was never happy with and it tends to be a lot of people's favourite (including my own). Thanks for the comment and hope you enjoy your playthrough!

I've played New N Tasty and I agree with you, great game mechanics and a lot more player friendly... but maybe the style was TOO friendly ;> I'm playing Soulstorm rn, and yes it feels like how they intended it. Its got mechanics that make the game a lot more puzziling and fun. I need to go back and play the originals tho. Even if not to complete it, but just for nostalgia sake Keep making the Oddworld vids, love to watch em <3

It is a nice one. My personal favourite is Special Stage 2 with Toxic Plateau. One of my best Sonic tracks ever.
