I see how rude the customers are to the cashier sometimes. This makes me be the nicest person on Earth to the cashier. I think that has to be about the worst job on the planet. I always hope my niceness to them gets them through at least the next few minutes with a good feeling.

I used to work at a grocery store where I grew up & worked through out my city. So I was very well known. To make a long story short. It's really important when you begin work to put on the "happy" face whether you feel it or not. And greet everyone by name as you walk in. Eventually you'll feel that "happy" face & try to make a difference for all. I had customers walking in asking for a hug or a good word. If you're working for a fair & equal employer none of your supervisors should feel threatened by your great customer service skills. I miss my customer. I retired due to COVID.

I have been a cashier for decades now. I currently work at a grocery store. The level of rudeness of some people is next level. And I wish to God customers wouldn't JUMP on that keypad to pay before you have even rung everything up. It causes issues with the entire compuerized process. I wish I had control over it and once I'm done ringing, THEN and only THEN do they get access to the keypad to swipe their payment. And customers, for the love of GOD...get off your damn phones!!! It is so fucking rude to be ignoring us and talking to someone else. We might need to actually talk to you about your order...if you can't hold off on using your phone for the length of time it takes to be rung up for your groceries, YOU are the problem....

Was a minor and worked as a cashier for Walgreens and stocked years ago. I did more than just stand there as people think we do. Cashiers at Walgreens helped stock stuff up front too and cleaned the front area and faced it. Honestly for any teens seeking a job I'd suggest cashiering if you're good at math(it tells you how much to give back!), good with people, and are a problem solver. Walgreens IMO was a good first job. I'd suggest Kroger, Schnucks, and other big box retailers too.

Lmao 💀 "white voice" we know what you mean but more accurately it's your "customer service" voice. And so true. Everyone has to do that. Completely normal.
