The MWD method began with my journey to St. Petersburg Russia in 2012. There I began studying K9 training at the Royal Dog Academy under the direction of Maxim Basyro. Upon my return to the U.S. I spent the next 10 years developing dogs, studying DNA, neuron activity, and connectivity of the central nervous system. MWD K9 was founded in 2012 in order to develop the best possible training methods for K9 and humans. Now based in Columbus, Ohio, this KZbin Channel is our way of sharing what we've learned with you.

Is there any reason why you don’t use “wings” for the jump or place it perpendicular to a wall to decrease the chance the dog will run around it? It seems a hallway might be good. Guidelines for when it’s ok to teach this? Ie) up to X inches before a year. Height from 1 yr - 2 yr. Height after 2yrs ie) growth plates closed.

I have my first mal (not first dog). He’s only 8 months & he’s the first I am training more than “pet” obedience. Regarding the speed & accuracy- am I correct that it comes with training? He has learned more commands than my previous dogs, but he does not have nearly the speed & precision of the dogs in your video. I have assumed it’s because I am still learning these techniques myself. Ie) these dogs are capable of precision & speed but we need to teach them how to direct it. Hope that makes sense. Thanks in advance. Really enjoying what I am watching. Thank-you!

Hi. First time viewing one of your videos. I stopped & asked what “chloric” meant literally the second before you put the definition on the screen. Lol Deleted that comment. Appreciate the game & also sharing part 1. I think it helps us to learn & not be discouraged when we novices make mistakes. Ie) it should be expected. Will be watching part 1 & then the video with the 4 “personalities”. Have my first mal. Adopted from shelter when he was 9 weeks. Have had and pet trained other larger dogs - mostly working dog crosses. He is 9 months. Doing well. Want to do the best for him & increase my abilities. I was originally going to go quickly into scent work. Instead have been focusing more on obedience & learning how to play “tug” like French ring trainers. Figured it’s safer. Not sure if I will do bite work on people at this point. I have a question - I heard from one trainer that with obedience all the reward is with the trainer. Scent work reward is away from handler & consequently it may decrease the obedience. Your thoughts? Thank-you for sharing the videos.

Why is it a goal for them to be off leash? I get it it’s cool and makes you look like a good trainer and the dog feels freer. However, it’s irresponsible in reality for the lay person. So many things can happen that can be dangerous to the dog and others. The dog can run off, get lost, get hit by a car, run after another dog and fight, run up to a person and bite them, ect. How can you ignore these real possibilities? If it’s a military dog I get it. But not the average family dog.

Lesson herein - be it human or animal, always get an expert opinion… the generalist is just that, like a primary care physician, y’all wouldn’t trust them to treat your diabetes or cancer diagnosis, no, you’d want to avail yourself of the experts for that condition (note/disclaimer: this obviously doesn’t apply to MAGA trumpies, who as we’ve seen during the Covid pandemic, many times chose to disregard the science and medical experts, oftentimes paying w/ their life and the financial well-being of their families, just b/c they were too ignorant to release that they didn’t understand how to separate fact from fiction)

Could you sometime teach the Stand? I seem to have the most trouble with this one. I like to mix my languages, with some commands in one foreign language and some in others. I also use an unusual release word so they don't accidentally release in a competitive setting or with a word a casual acquaintance might use in conversation. Thank you for your videos!

Hi Jay, while the dogs demonstrating this technique have in fact already learned the recall command, the food reward method, and the techniques demonstrated here are the exact same ones we use with new puppies and rescues. We will be putting out a video demonstrating these techniques with a new puppy as soon as possible, but as you can imagine we don’t always have new puppies available to us.
