I've been playing drums for over 40 years and I've never really thought much about positioning my kit. I realize now that my back hurts a lot less when I do. Thank you for sharing!

Bottom line: There's different techniques that accomplish the desired result. Try them all, and see what's most comfortable.

i think those EQ pods were thought for those moments when you need to dampen your drumhead in the middle of a gigs but you don't have time to adjust put one or two or three moongel, so you go "full dampening, no vrrrrr" with one EQ pods and basta

The multi angle views are unnecessary. You can save the need for 2 cameras. When people watch and listen to an instructor, we don’t change positions and look at the teacher from, say, below and then move across as if we are sitting in different places in the classroom.

My cheap stock no name pedal was laying like 70 degrees from the drum head, and it didnt have an adjustable angle lmao. Leg got pretty beefy. Now my DW4000 double arrived and its like ive been driving a golf cart my whole life and was just handed the keys to a ferrari.

JMHO - if tuning both brands at the "mid/medium" tension, they sound the same. But if you prefer a higher pitch, the G2s sound better at the mid-high to high tension (the Remos sound choked to me). Conversely, if you want a lower pitch for that classic rock sound, the Emperors excel at that point (the Evans are flat sounding to me when tuned low)

Huge difference between remo and evans.... Get your ears checked. REMO always has more tone.....

No mention of the thickness of the hoops. I've tried the different styles and prefer the triple flange. However, in the triple flange, I prefer the 2.3 mm thickness over the brighter 1.6 mm thickness hoops. It's a personal thing. I am not saying that any one of these is best for everyone. I play lower volume jazz and this is my best compromise. If I played rock, my choice would be way different.

I always think that if you're starting off, small kit is the best to learn off of. Even if you're more of a professional drummer, they can still prefer a smaller kit. While big kits look cool, small kits are obviously easy to move around and set up quickly. Unless you're doing something more intricate, similar to how Mike Portnoy, Neil Peart, or Gavin Harrison plays, I prefer a small kit to get the job done.

I switched from Remo to Evans around 15 or 20 years ago due to consistent QC issues - mylar tearing out of the rim, splitting at the bearing edge, etc. But I was never entirely happy with how Evans heads sounded on my main snare. Now I'm using coated G1 over snare Ambassador, and it's the best the snare has sounded. A big factor in the decision to stick with the G1 was the longevity of the coating. A smaller consideration is how much longer Remo heads seem to take to break in and settle, and no longer need constant retuning. However, to my ears, the coated Ambassador sounds vastly superior in this video, and it has me considering giving it another try. Surprisingly, the UV1 also sounds better than the G1 in this video, and I've never found that to be the case. In fact, I've always found the UV heads to sound a little dull/dead compared to their non-UV counterparts, but here it sounds almost as good as the coated Ambassador (it's definitely more powerful, but the rimshots just seem to lack some overtones or something, that make the coated Ambassador stand out for me.) So maybe there's something about that particuar head that makes it sound so bad to me, and it's not characteristic of all coated G1s (I sure hope so).

I'm left handed and here is a tip - learn to play a right handed kit like a right hander. The beginnings are always difficult no matter how you play so you lose nothing and gain everything.

There all so different in this shoot out from the others iv seen. What?? What is going on here? Is it that snare? It makes the heads sound so different making each one so unique. I almost hate the ambassador 😂. Huh. It is too ringie to me. The hd dry, my go too sounds semi flat, and the ones iv always avoided sound great....im lost now. This is my 4th comparison video this morning...i got a new papex tamahwk snare and the stock head sucks. Idk what to get... i usually go with hd dry but my snare too is steel and its only a 5.5 thick. Idk what to do. 😢😢 before i buy ...i might see how my tamahawk sounds with lighter tripple flange hoops compared to the cast hoops it comes with. And i have different wires to try first to. See what i can do to it with the stock head first i guess. Its amazing what cast vs trip flange can do and what wire count can do. Iv used 30count wires to tone down snares that had too much over tone and iv used cast hoops for the same thing. If i add an had dry to that i can have the dryest snare ever. If i put a 10ct wire with tripple flange on the same drum with a clear ambassador i can have a super open tone drum...its all wild...idk what to do ahhhhhh!!!😂😢

You really need to do a side by side. You need to hit the 10" Remo then the 10" EC 2. The heads are so similar it's the best way to hear the difference.

The interval for jazz tuning with a 10” and 14” doesn’t work so great. I’ve had 2 silverstar jazz kits in the past and my first one was blue sparkle, it had a fantastic open tone to it.

Great comparison video. (Could have done without the ride and crash cymbals.) I never herd an Ash kit before and was really impressed. I did hear a difference in all kits but they were small. What were the bearing edges on each kit.
