what note is the grace note
@smoothjazzsaxschoolАй бұрын
If you’re looking at the sheet music, it’s the small notes right before the main note. I normally play the Grace note a half step below the main note.

I'm pretty much teaching myself, never been to school, the pace of your voice is perfect! slow and smooth, very easy for me to follow. Most people teaching sax on YT talk as if they are teaching professionals not beginners.. Good job!
@smoothjazzsaxschoolАй бұрын
Thank you! I try to make it easy enough to where beginners and intermediate players can follow along!

Jasen, you don’t mention, but would you say that David ‘steps outside’ in the second half by sort of lowering the key center by a half-step? That’s what creates that cool, atonal tension.
@smoothjazzsaxschool2 ай бұрын
Hey. Good analysis on this lick. He starts out in concert E minor in the first measure and does a brief tonal shift to concert Eb minor for the first 2 beats of measure 2 and then shifts back to E minor halfway through the measure. Great way to add interest in improvisation.
