There was always a fascinating feeling of both mystery and fantasy within the opening's melody which made it perfect as the very first introduction to Umineko, so listening to it through a music box really amplifies those two vibes.

I think this is talking more about self-righteousness. It's about destroying own sense of what is being right or wrong, own sense of "justice"

My superpower is remembering the lyrics of a foreign language that I don't speak even after many years have passed since I last listen to this song 😌

"Someone already tried to translate this and they did a pretty good job, but they thought the song was about Battler, so some parts were a little off." Actually, it is about Battler though. The CD booklet strongly implies it's about Battler at the end of EP5 when he reach the truth -and the lyrics does match with it- and more importantly the CD was released on December 2010, the same day EP8 was released. And as Ryukishi07 explained in an conference in France in 2012, the composers were not aware of the content of the story before the episodes were released so they couldn't write a song about Tohya since they didn't even know the character. Moreover, the CD, Goldist, is a CD related to Ougon Musou Kyoku -the first release-, before Black Battler and his colored counterpart who looks like Tohya become available in game. So it makes no sense for a song about Tohya to be on the CD (I won't argue about the lyrics because everyone can interpret the lyrics of a song the way they want.)

When I first heard about Umineko, I dismissed it. Even though I'd already fallen in love with Higurashi, I was not interested in some story about rich people squabbling over stupid money matters, even amidst a potential cool mansion murder mystery. I decided to finally just give it a go in September of 2023, since anytime it got brought up, it was always with praise. I finished it a few weeks ago, January 2024. I'm still crying. I've never read anything like it. A masterpiece in every sense of the word.

I did Umineko before Higurashi, and Higurashi just couldn't compete with my high expectations. Umineko is not perfect, but it feels very unique.

GOSH! I was looking for this song for days by now. I didn't remember the name only the refrain tune and a little bit how the MV looked like. I searched for several gumi songs on youtube with “gumi rock“ and so on but none of the thumbnails or song titles ring a bell. I even listened to a gumi songs compilation to hope to find it and even started to scroll through all the gumi songs pages on VocaloidWiki Then FINALLY, this poped up on my search list! I'm so grateful you posted this 😭 Moral of the Story: If you find a banger song -> bookmark it
