I’ve connected a couple female flexiconnectors together with a stainless steel double make connecting piece. They all leak water from the top part of the flexiconnector. How do I make that watertight??

The flex hoses do not kink. Do not twist the flex hoses. Make sure that the metal mesh is not damaged.

Good day. I have installed a brand new element last night including the thermostat. Everything is wired correctly and set to 40°C. I have a constant 220V on the element and the water is waaaay hotter than 40. I don't know what I'm doing wrong

are these fittings intended to be connected directly to the flex line ? or do they need a little teflon tape or plumbers paste on the thread ? ?

I have heard this debate for years and then I tried switching off my geyser each day and over a year and a half I have saved a lot of money. I think the geyser issue with the two kettle example is incompatible with actual plumbing. The reason being that kettles don't have meters of copper piping attached to them. The copper pipes acts as a heatsink to the heat in the geyser and cools the geyser constantly. If you heat the geyser once in the evening from when it is cold to say 55 deg it will use less energy than keeping it at 55 deg the whole day, especially in winter because the pipes are drawing so much heat out of the geyser. I realised this when in my roof one winters day and I could tell which pipes were hot water and which were cold just by toughing them. You could insulate the pipes but that will be more costly than buying a geyser timer and probably would not work as well either. As for the " burning the thermostat points when you put your geyser off and on" then consider this. If you switch your geyser off and on once a day the contacts only arc once a day, if your geyser is on the whole day then they arcing every so often when the thermostat is switching on and off throughout the day so I disagree with your statement. Also thermostat contacts are designed to switch current on and off all the time, that's their job. As for the breaker wearing out. I assume you referring to the electrical circuit breaker in the db. I do agree with you as those are not designed to be switched on and off, they are for occasional overloads. Installing a geyser timer solves this problem. An electrician will install one for R1000 and considering switching off my geyser daily has on average saved me about R170 per month, it will pay itself off within a year. I am not a plumber, but can tell you that everyone I know who switches off their geyser can show on their electric bill a noticeable saving.

Wow thx for that explanation. Yes I agree with you. At the end of the day switching your geyser on and off, makes your breaker weak. Meaning you need to replace your geyser breaker. I appreciate your comment in this. I'm just not a firm believer in switching a geyser off. That's why a thermostat is made to do it for you.
