take climbing classes & get in person help. dont rig a highline off a youtube tutorial. its harder than it looks, and your life depends on everything being perfect.

Hey up, just out of interest, what kind of anchor set up did you have? are a few bomber slings considered adequate? I know there's plenty of those around up there. Cheers.

Nice one, just walking along the top of Stanage without being blown of your feet is tough enough at the best of times, there must be a load of places across the gritsone edges that you could span a rope and this would be a hoot, How about the stinky pond at Lawencefield?

what the hell is wrong with you people, i bet 99.9% of you all couldnt do that 2 feet off the floor without slipping and cracking your balls! im looking into how to set up a highline, if anyone can help me, please reply to this comment :) thanks

That looks like something i could do in my back yard and save myself the trouble of climbing a few thousand feet and hooking in. Then again, I don't have many girls in my backyard yelling 'woo hoo' after I cross the gap.

nicely done. I'm still working hard on a low short slackline, and that is a LOT harder than it looks, although clearly the haters on here have never tried. Respect for the highline, I'll get there one day.

@jimbojims wow, use your brain a little more and stop degrading someone who has better accomplishments than you. it's not stopping him from falling, it's connecting him to the slackline so IF he falls its only a few feet. the reason he pulls it is because it lags too far behind him and it is throwing him off balance.

@taekwondoman12345 Its already dangerous even with the saftey line. Its only "woops i fell just gotta climb back up and try again" if nothing goes wrong. I take it you have done it without the saftey line? "conquered the challenge"?

@jimbojims Talking silly mate, it's dragging at him and he's pulling it up. How can pulling on something in line with his feet aid his balance?
@jimbojims
@jimbojims 14 жыл бұрын
at .29 seconds he very clearly grabs his sling attaching him to the slackline. that is the same as pulling on climbing gear to help you through a difficult section, its cheating! this cant be called an onsight if you pull on gear to stop you from falling.

@gfunkonthecheesetree theres a safety so hows theres a chance to die?

@gfunkonthecheesetree EXCACTLY thats the whole point! Accept that theres risk and conquer it. If your smart youll start out small and work your way up to doing more difficult things.

Ever heard of Dan Osman? He died because he free climbed without safety ropes and he was a professional.

Is it just me? Or does anyone else think safety lines are stupid. Extreme stunts like this are extreme BECAUSE they are dangerous. People are too soft. Life isnt fun without a little danger. You gotta get out and feel the fear of dying but then be able to confront your fear and conquer the challenge. Without any fear or risk... there is no challenge, its just "whoops I fell... just gotta climb back up and try again". But i digress. This is just my personal opinion.

Well there's no leader or second there as its a highline. Its just a lone anchor. I've sat on the needle a couple of times and there's nothing to rig to on the top. Not much on the opposite side of the top block either so you'd have to use the belay on The Wasdale Crack or thread the whole thing or maybe use The Wasdale Roof as on big anchor. Just wondering...

How did you rig the anchor on the needle side? Just a big thread around the whole thing? Anything to stop it coming off?
@eclipsearchery9387
@eclipsearchery9387 3 жыл бұрын
You anchor back to the main hillside, not the needle itself. The needle is used sort of like an a-frame. Imagine if you were tensioning and the bugger tipped over.....ooooopppppsssssss!
