Also on my secondary PC I run Server 2016, which is based off an older Windows 10 build, but it is SO much better (no Cortana, no MS store, No BS AND you can fully disable updates using Powershell + Windows Defender actually stays off when you turn it off. I still mainly use 7, but if I absolutely had to switch, either server 2016 or 2019 would be my 2nd choice. Oh and BTW I don't do updates. EVER. Nor do I use an antivirus. Literally just use common sense online and you'll be fine. As for an up to date web browser? I pretty much only ever use Firefox. Chrome AND microsoft edge are both garbage, and they will end support for 7-8.1 in February (I think). Firefox doesn't officially have an end of support date for 7 yet, meaning they will still be supporting it for a while

have you tried Linux? there are many distros and desktop environments if you dont like the one you choose, such as Zorin OS, Manjaro, and Linux Mint.
