"Det är skönt att våga bli förtvivlad, känna sig verklig ..." Här har vi den sanna existentialisten, Kierkegaards efterföljare.

I can see why this dance scene got cut. It really served no purpose in moving the story forward and just ate up film minutes.
@jonathanlabarca787412 күн бұрын
Cutting this is what Ray gets in my opinion. He was so eager to play the scarecrow so he could do all his fancy dance moves, that he made Buddy take on the Tin Man which almost killed him and then got him cut and replaced from the movie.

The lead singer Bob Geldoff suffered tragedies. He and first wife divorced and then she died of a drug OD. Their daughter Peaches suffered the same fate years later as a young adult. So sad. BTW: The killer Brenda Spencer who inspired this song is still incarcerated 45+ years later.

I would've sworn this used to be in the movie when I was very young and it came on TV. For years after a time I felt like the scarecrow's dance had been cut out.

Because this movie has been designated as a "classic", there should be no deletions of things on film. That is how it works with the classifications of such movies.

Ray Bolger was a very talented dancer. I wish they hadn't cut this entertaining scene. Though I can see why. It does slow the movie down. But still.🤥 I was just watching The Wizard of Oz and decided to pause the film and watch this scene instead of the movie version. It was fun.! I have been watching The Wizard since I was 7 years old and I am 71 now. It's a wonderful movie.

This scene was apparently cut from the movie at the very last minute due to some concerns that the film was too long
@nurselibby9619 күн бұрын
@@superjackster0165 I found that out several years ago. Angel Lansbury hosted a television special years ago bout the stories behind the making of the Wizard. It's on the 50th anniversary DVD 3 disc edition in the bonus features here I got to watch it again.

If we only knew this song was about Brenda the original mass shooter. RIP Mr Burton and the hero 56 year old maintenance worker Mike Sakar who saved so many children. A stupid girl with a 22 caliber rifle was given to her for her birthday by her father. This cunt decided to use the attached scope to target children wearing blue cause that was her favourite colour. She lived opposite the Cleveland School and fired endless rounds. Luckily the severely injured children survived but the brave principle and the maintenance worker did not. Fuck you Brenda

Wonder if they used wires throughout his dancing to help him come up from the split and all. I could never plot that good when I was young. He was so talented. So glad they found this and we get to see it!
@CoCotheTurtle4 ай бұрын
No, There is another video on KZbin, from a few years later, where he does many of the moves from this scene, including the splits, and no wires were used.
