Awesome video, thank you for the detailed walk through!! You still have the canoe, how is it holding up? How stable I it,, You think two guys could stand up and fly fish out of it??? I'm in central Florida and guide-fly for both freshwater and skinny water... Thanks again!!!

Well, its been three years since this video but I found it to be very useful and exactly what I was looking for. I have a 23ft bay boat and I was looking for a simple (not expensive) skiff/yak/canoe so I can stalk the flats and the back country by myself. Thanks

I have the opportunity to buy an Indian river 16 ft for $275 looks identical to yours. Looking to run a 40 or so pound thrust troller and fish finder on it from my old John boat. Wanting to go exploring around Florida. I've always been a little skeptical for myself with canoes being 6'5

Hey i recommend a sand spike for quick stops and it can be used as a push pole. I have one on my 14 foot scanoe and i use it for freshwater. It’s great, like a cheaper more versitile powerpole

The sand spike isn’t too flimsy?

Great set up man. I have an old Grumman sport boat that I picked up with a 4.5 evinrude for fairly cheap and it has been pretty fun. It definitely needs to be set up a little better. It only goes about 7mph the way I have it.

What is the length and maximum width of this Indian river canoe? What is the width of the transom also? If I can't find an Indian river canoe for sale... I may have to just build one. Any measurements you can provide would be most helpful. Thanks.

Hey Tex, what about drainage? I have a 12' "Otter" from Indian River, which appears identical other than the length. The biggest put-off has been the lack of a drain hole in the stern. One bad thunderstorm on the Gulf Coast can get quite a bit of water in a canoe. I like my Otter, but I have to have something for drainage when the canoe is trailered, open side up. Sure, I could trailer it facing down, but can't put all my stuff in there to travel. Have been eyeballing the "Old River" canoes, which supposedly have such drains, but can't find out much about them since there is no website that I can find. I like your setup though. Mine is similar but I use either a 3.5hp 2-stroke or a 5hp 2-stroke Nissan. The canoe will actually plane with the 5hp! I fully agree on the versatility these things have. You can configure it in many different ways depending on the circumstances.
