Amazon is a distributor doesn’t anyone understand that, they don’t pack they deliver whatever the OEM has.
@slide85704 ай бұрын
Thanks for that response. I know I blamed Amazon for the content arriving as it did, but it was shipped by an outside source. I just want people to know what they might be receiving if buying from Amazon. A lot of people buy guitars online these day's as many music stores went by the wayside long ago, the point of the video that I shared, was to make people aware of what you buy isn't always what you get. I also want people to understand quality control..as in the messed up tuner etc. Years ago, you could walk into a music store, in most towns, and play an instrument, today we, as a people tend to buy online. I'm trying to help people understand that even if it's not perfect, the thing you bought online, can be made to suit your needs. The OEM who shipped the guitar with all of it's imperfections..there you go. Quality vs quantity.
@bluwng4 ай бұрын
@@slide8570 you are right and it does show some of the vendors don’t care. Even though Amazon doesn’t pack it they should have criteria for acceptable shipping packages from their vendors.

6:20 - don’t tighten the springs, loosening the strings will be more than enough to pull the bridge back into the block., also, I would be careful not to damage the finish at the rear of the route with that block, I never use a block., I have the bar attached, and stuff a rag under the trem, it’s always worked fine for me, and no damage.
@slide85704 ай бұрын
Thanks for the tip. I built a shim to go between the bridge block and the body in between the springs so I won't have to block the bridge at the top of the body. Appreciate the information though!!
@slide85704 ай бұрын
I built something new that is not on the market but would alleviate the need anything between the bridge and the finish. It works great. And I may share that in the next video. In the meantime I ordered some locking tuners to put on this guitar, and some other things as well. I'm a tinkerer!

I have 4 Ibanez guitar 1 I've had since 1985, and I love them all
@slide85704 ай бұрын
I had a Japanese model from the 90's that was a great guitar! I sold it for what I paid for it. I missed that guitar and bought the one you see in the video..and you can see why I might have been a little disappointed with Ibanez. I'll make it work, and it's a nice guitar, just not built to the standard that I would expect from Ibanez.
@JohnBaker-vm1wf4 ай бұрын
I'm still shaking my head when people complain about the strings that come on a guitar. It's literally the first thing I get rid of because you have no idea how long they have been sitting there. I had a an S470 and it was a pleasure to play. No issues. I'll admit that tuner offset is a huge faux-pas. Terrible QC on that one.
@slide85704 ай бұрын
Exactly..get rid of them! But a lot of people don't know that..especially beginners. I had an RG470 back in the early 90's, made in Japan, perfect out of the box. But the shipping and QC on this one sucked. I have no idea what wage these people make when they made it. So, I take that into consideration. I'll fix it the way I want it. I just want people to be aware of what they 'might' receive if they buy one. Thanks for the comment.
@slide85704 ай бұрын
I used to manage a music store back in the 90's and sold a lot of guitars. I made sure they had new strings, set up properly, etc. Today, most guitars, like the one you saw in the video, are purchased online, you don't get to see it, you don't get to play it, you don't get to hear it..you just hope it will meet your expectations. It is what it is..just a random guitar bought online to play and figure out! I have fun doing that.
@newsycpl4 ай бұрын
Unfortunately; like most musical instruments these days, guitars are a crapshoot at $1500. The guitar market now wants $2000+ for makers to even give you a case! The hobby market, in general, has become such a ripoff and buyers do the same thing by offering $250 for your used Les Paul.
@theshapeexists4 ай бұрын
I advise everyone to NEVER buy any guitar they haven't played in person so you can see and hear what you're getting. Too much QC issue potential

Thanks. I'm using an open C tuning but this is the description I got from google as far as tuning : While no standard tuning has been established for baritone guitars, popular tunings for the instrument are: a perfect fourth lower than a standard guitar (B1-E2-A2-D3-F♯3-B3), a perfect fifth lower (A1-D2-G2-C3-E3-A3), or a major third lower (C2-F2-B♭2-E♭3-G3-C4).

Thanks again my friend. I know tone is subjective to everyone. I took guitar lessons from some old Italian guy when I was about 12, his name was Al, and he always told me "Sing when you play!", unfortunately I have the bad habit of humming when I play..but I try to get the tone of what my voice sounds like, or might sound like if played through a guitar. If that makes sense. Jeff Beck was the master of making a guitar have a vocal quality to it. I checked out your channel and watched the one vid you had posted..and if I did what your kiddo did, I'm assuming, I'd bust my neck! Nice drop-in on the skateboard. Play on my friend.
