Daiwa J-Braid x8 I've found it to be a solid brand braid overall and quite a few fisherman here use it as their go-too

Nice man! I see you kept your kayak simple, not too much equipment on it, just a fish finder, anchor trolley maybe? And what else? I am gonna get soon my first Yak, a Viking exactly like yours…but I wanted to keep it simple , at least in the beginning

Thanks! That's all I've got on it. I've even since removed the anchor trolley as I only use lures from it and find a sea anchor doesn't add enough value for my style of fishing. I'd recommend a fish finder especially if you're planning on fishing other than "the wash" or with softbait.

We call it a kingfish in NZ but if you want to Google it, use "seriola lalandi". They're a very hard fighting fish... as you can see haha

Incredible fish and even better right at the end of the dive. First NZ snapper I've seen that has a decent lump on it's head like the Australian ones.

You're quite on the money there. It would have been best to keep tension on but I was so excited and I could see that the shot was good (flopper out). Much appreciated. A bit of luck with that one too.

Anything over about 7lbs here is considered pretty massive / pretty unusual - did you manage to get your beast on the scales?

@@BR0SE1DON no worries! Yes, it went on official scales and came in at 8.8kg/19.4lb. Just shy of the magical "20lb Club". Also, Broseidon is a brilliant name haha

I remember doing the same thing when mine popped up. Is it 20 ? Is it 20? Great scrap from that fish too. Can't catch a big one without something dangerous like the teeth chomping on the line next to the yak! Great camera work cousin!
