how to ON and enable old legacy sketch environment like nx12 nx10... because new sketch environment sucks

We could have given pcd for hole dimensions,in order to reduce confusion for stake holders. And instead of giving datums on the ribs we can control it by center hole itself. And cost estimation of parts was very useful, thank you.

1. There is no standard called out in the video. So I have no choice but to assume that it is either ASME Y14.5M-1994 or Y14.5-2009 because the committee removed concentricity and symmetry in Y14.5-2018. 2. All the dimensions technically do not meet the standard. For instance, ⌀36.00 ± .4 should be ⌀36.00 ± .40 for imperial dimensions or ⌀36 ± 0.4 for metric ones (yeah, details matter). 3. All concentricity callouts in the video are missing the "⌀" symbol in the feature control frame because the concentricity tolerance zone is a cylinder. 4. The flywheel part shown (timestamp 2:50) does not have a surface of revolution. So that one concentricity callout does not apply to other areas of the part. So you would need 3 concentricity callouts for each partial cylindrical area with a CONTINOUS FEATURE callout/flag. And that still does not cover the planar features of the part. In my humble opinion, a training company that claims to teach people GD&T should not make these mistakes. My advice for all viewers, please do your homework before buying subscriptions. You should check the credentials of the instructors, etc. Unfortunately, anyone can "teach" on KZbin these days. There is no checking authority. So be careful. Always question. It is very easy to learn new things wrong. Do yourself a favor and buy the standard. It is a good investment and a good starting point.

How to change PMI dimention value?
@myigetit3 ай бұрын
We cannot change PMI dimension as it is the exact measured dimension of any entity. We can overwrite drafting dimension, but we cannot overwrite PMI dimension. But we can add appended text before, after, above, below etc.

I can't see any profiles in structure system. They are available in weldment profiles. Does it mean i have to copy the sketches and create it the way it's made in the video? I use SW2020
@myigetit3 ай бұрын
Dear Learner, Here's the solution to your problem: The Profile Sketches are created just as any other normal SOLIDWORKS Sketch, & it doesn't involve any another environment as Structure System or Weldment for it to be created. SOLIDWORKS provides hundreds of Weldment Profiles by default & you'll most likely find what you need within those, but this webinar just shows how you can create custom ones if you need to. Only thing important to be remembered is that these custom profiles need to be saved using .SLDLFP (Library Feature Part) format exactly in the same folder location on your system wherein your default weldment profiles exist, but depending on the permissions for this folder you may have to save it to a temporary folder & then copy it to this folder or you may be able to save it directly from SOLIDWORKS to the default folder, but in any scenario, once you create your custom profile you'll want it to be in the default folder for SOLIDWORKS to point to it & actually make it a selectable item. Also, you need not copy any sketches from anywhere, you can create them & save them simply as per above instructions. Please make sure to go through the video from time stamp 5:52 to 7:11, the same written above is neatly explained. For further information, please check out www.myigetit.com to purchase the comprehensive SOLIDWORKS 2024 Weldments Course, also u can subscribe the various other bundles of latest advanced courses in SOLIDWORKS 2024. Why does the angle specified have no relevance to anything? You'd think zero would be on an existing plane
@myigetit5 ай бұрын
Here's the answer to your question - To create a section along an axis, you need to select an axis or arc so that the section will appear along that axis or the center of the arc. - The specified angle can be adjusted as per your requirement. You can set it to zero or any defined angle in the 'Rotate plane along axis' pane. In our i GET IT tech tip section, we upload short updates on new or technical features. For more comprehensive information, we offer a full SOLIDWORKS library of courses that explain detailed features with examples. We hope this clarifies your question.

@@myigetit Hi again, I can get the section to work, but seething the angle to zero has no relevance to the world or local planes Shouldn’t 0 degrees be vertical or horizontal by default?

Sir I have seen your videos @8.55 driver dimensions you told but you don't tell what is meaning by driven dimensions
@myigetit5 ай бұрын
In the webinar, our expert discussed driving dimensions, but let's clarify what driven dimensions mean: Driving Dimensions: - Definition: These are the primary dimensions you specify and control directly within the CAD model. They dictate the geometry and constrain the shape and size of the model. - Role: They define the exact size, location, and orientation of features in the model. When you change a driving dimension, the associated geometry updates accordingly. - Example: If you set a driving dimension for the length of a part to be 90 mm, changing this value to 130 mm will resize the part to 130 mm. Driven Dimensions: - Definition: Also known as reference dimensions, these are derived from the existing geometry and driving dimensions. They are not used to control the geometry but provide additional information. - Role: They display the results of the constraints and driving dimensions. Changing a driven dimension does not alter the model; instead, it updates automatically when the geometry changes due to modifications in driving dimensions. - Example: If you have a rectangle with driving dimensions for the length and width, the diagonal length can be a driven dimension. It updates when either the length or width changes but cannot be directly edited to change the shape of the rectangle. We hope this explanation helps!

Just curious why you used this instead of the weldment.
@myigetit5 ай бұрын
We used Structure Systems in this video instead of traditional weldments because Structure Systems is an advanced environment within SOLIDWORKS. While weldments allow you to design a structure as a single multibody part, Structure Systems offers more flexibility. It lets you create and modify structural members with different profiles within a single feature, simplifying the design process and making it easier to manage complex structures. We hope this helps clarify our choice. 😃

I can't get featureworks to do anything no matter what I do or to get any kind of feature recognition. Have had to spend countless hours of rebuilding parts just so they can be edited... but in doing so, I end up with 100s of extrusions and cuts... and having feature recognition could save me from having to do all that. It never prompts me to scan the parts at all when I open them and I can't find any way to do it after the part is loaded. I added the "data migration" tab to the toolbar and there is a "recognize features" option in there... but it's always grayed out and I can't use it for anything.
