does the hard coat modge podge dull out the stones or the glitter? you don't use something like E6000 to help hold the stones down?
@Myonlineweddinghelpcom5 жыл бұрын
The hard coat underneath does not dull the decorations. But the dishwasher safe on top makes it not quite as glittery compared to unsealed. Everything still shines, though. I only used the adhesive already on the backside of the stones plus sealer. But But I'd think the extra holding power of a clear glue that works ok with moisture could only improve it!

what if my material is not wide enough
@Myonlineweddinghelpcom8 жыл бұрын
That's a tougher situation, Jessica. You could try laying two widths side by side to make it wide enough and carefully sew them together or add a stitch here and there. If you can somehow make the seam fall inside a fold/gather that could work. But either way it will not be totally smooth. I would do a small sample and see how obvious it looks. If that does not work out, there is both both 72" and 108" wide tulle here: www.myonlineweddinghelp.com/products/product-category/diy-wedding/fabric-ribbon-trim/tulle-fabric/

How easy is it to attach a ribbon edge? I like this look, but not sure how easy it is to do. I am a reasonable sewer but am concerned about puckering on the curved edges?
@Myonlineweddinghelpcom8 жыл бұрын
I used glue to apply the lace edge and found it relatively easy. There was no puckering.

how do you measure the tulle or whatever fabric you use for veil to make cathedral length? do I measure from where I'm going to attach it or from the base of my head?
@Myonlineweddinghelpcom8 жыл бұрын
+Sam's Corner Hi Sam, To see exactly how long it will trail, measure from where you will attach it.

Hello, if I wanna make cathedral veil 170 inches I should cut the veil the same like in your video or different? Thank you :)
@Myonlineweddinghelpcom8 жыл бұрын
+Milda Malinauskaite These directions should work. You'd measure out 170 inches plus the length of the blusher (or second tier, which you'd fold back).

Thank you very much for the Making a Bridal Veil Series that you have on KZbin. I am making dresses for American Girl dolls and will use your instructions for the doll's veil also. You do such a good job of explaining and demonstrating all the steps of making the veil. The samples of attaching beads and trims is also very interesting and well shown. Thank you again. How would I like a flyaway veil as I don't want the veil over my face.
@Myonlineweddinghelpcom10 жыл бұрын
Christine, you would cut a round piece of tulle with a diameter double the length from where you are going to attach it to your hair to where you want it to fall. Fold it in half and attach the comb or pin on the folded edge. Then make sure both halves are folded back away from your face when you put on the veil.

You are welcome. A few weeks ago I had to make a bow with 1 1/2" ribbon so I got the rake back out and did a perfect one in about three minutes (used just the inside half of the rungs). I'm totally hopeless the freehand way! ~Bobette

Could you fold it in quarters first and cut the curve all at once? Or do you not recommend that?
@Myonlineweddinghelpcom10 жыл бұрын
Phoebe, it's possible but I couldn't get it even enough and got frustrated, so went with two steps for the "craft challenged." (lol) Someone with more skill could probably do it pretty easily.
@Myonlineweddinghelpcom10 жыл бұрын
Jane, you could try pinning the gauze to tissue (or other) paper first so it's anchored better. Then cut through both the gauze and paper. That should help keep it from moving around so much. HTH ~Bobette

I can't thank you enough for this series on how to make a veil. It was very easy to follow, and helped me make a beautiful veil for a young lady that my family has come to know as a daughter. It really meant a lot to her that I was making her veil, and I am so proud of how it turned out. Thank you for helping create a new family heirloom!

Errr but what if there is no blusher , and wide lace all around :S
@Myonlineweddinghelpcom11 жыл бұрын
Cynthia, you could cut the tulle in a half-oval or half-circle shape, use lace only on the curved edges, and attach the comb to the straight edge.
@vintageoli11 жыл бұрын
Im not sure I follow! I bougt a 3m long veil, it is spanish style with a large lace all around. No cutting involved on my part! Hehe! Would i scrunch anything up? Do I new the comb onto the lace(closest to the tulle or on the complete outer edge of the lace...dont this the later would be nice thats for sure)
@Myonlineweddinghelpcom11 жыл бұрын
Cynthia Olivier I understand now (thought you were making it "from scratch.") It depends on how you want to wear it. A lot of people attach it with a hatpin (straight pin with an ornamental head) instead of a comb...then you position it so the lace frames your face. You could also fold the veil in half and attach a comb at the folded center, which would make it like a 2-tier veil and the lace would be at the "bottom" of the veil instead of around your face.

@Myonlineweddinghelpcom11 жыл бұрын
Natalie, it depends on how long you want your veil to be (it'll be the length from where you want it to attach to your head to where you want the end of veil to fall, plus the length of blusher and additional tiers and add 10% or so for wiggle room). Also, you may want to buy 2-3 times more than the veil will need so you have extra to experiment with or redo if you change your mind about something.
