will color/result look break if being stretched?
@themakershqАй бұрын
Hi, thank you for your comment, no, Sublimation shouldn't break when stretched, over time it will probably fade for sure depending on the use

@themakershqАй бұрын
no you need a sublimation printer or to get it printed at a company who prints sublimation

How long did you let the Polycrylic set/cure before pressing? I have rewatched to find this info, but can't seem to find it.

hi! we usually let it set for 24 hours!

Hi!, we're sorry we took so long to respond, in this video we used a polycrylic we bought in South America while we were living there, now we use Minwax, which we will be doing a video on soon!

Hi where do you get your sublimation sticker paper ? I want to try this you guys did a great job
@themakershqАй бұрын
HI thank you sorry for the delay! We used stickers we bought in South America while living there, but in North America, we have been told that HTVront makes great waterproof stickers for sublimation!
@jameswebb98764 ай бұрын
This is really helpful, and your presentation is fun. You might already know this, but since Polycrylic is water-based, it will raise the grain of your wood every time. Then you end up sanding away the roughness of the raised grain to get a smooth surface, and you risk sanding through the layer of Polycrylic. There is an easy fix for this, called "pre-raising the grain." Simply put some distilled water in a spray bottle, spray a coating of water onto the surface of the wood, and let it dry. Sand with 180 grit paper lightly and gently until smooth - you want to shear off the nibs - nothing more. Wipe it all off with a microfiber cloth. Then spray or brush on your Polycrylic and the surface will remain smooth as it dries. Minwax is the Polycrylic we use. Here in the States, when the Sherwin Williams store has a 40% off sale, a gallon goes for about $35-$40. Spray cans, $8-$9. That would have been normal pricing pre-pandemic; now, it is a steal.

does is fade when direct to sunlight or using it for outdoors?
@themakershqАй бұрын
We apologize for the delay in our response. Hi, honestly we have had them indoor all this time so we are not sure what could happen if you expose them to the outdoors.

how about using a polyester ink such as Rapid Cure Polyester White Screen Printing Plastisol Ink since the sublimation needs polyester.

I like how you showed trial and error. By not editing out when you guys made a small mistake by not using tape it let me know that if I don’t use tape I have to be a lot more careful when picking the paper up. I enjoyed this video and found it very helpful. I just bought a sublimation printer myself so I’ll definitely be checking you two out again. I’d love to see how sublimation works on dry erase if it would work at all. So I’ll be going through to see if you’ve covered that already and if not maybe consider trying. Thank you!!

Thanks for all of the experimentation showing your results. AWESOME! My next experiment is going to be sublimation onto white chipboard to make custom puzzles with my cutting machine. Thanks for the inspiration! If you guys want some constructive criticism for future videos, cut the time down on your intro and figure out better sound. You guys are awesome.

@themakershq7 ай бұрын
It's a bit hard to get bright colors but I tried it at the highest temperature of my iron and it seemed to work, you would just have to test your temperature, pressure, etc. Make sure to cover your table or board so it doesn't get stained and make sure to put a paper on top of the bag to stop it from melting on your iron
