The steel cable on my winch is nearly 30 years old and is still in good shape... I have some synthetic ropes that I use for winch extensions just because they are light to move around and I can easily stash them in various places in my Jeep, but I doubt that they would last as long as the steel cable has lasted and the abuse that it has experienced...

We attempted it new years eve dec '24 and fuck my life, the track is like a dog's breakfast - chewed up & spat out x 3 from all the dick head P platers. We did the track back in jan 2017 and it was no mwhere near as rough. Nor did it have as much traffic. NOT recommended for beginners!!! We struggled even though we're experienced 4wd's. Full of wombat holes! This track needs to be graded and maintained ASAP!

The old "tractor" funnels have a fine brass mesh through which the diesel goes. The mesh is fine enough to cause droplets of water to be stopped by the mesh thanks to the surface tension of the water. It's not intended to stop vast amounts of water to be separated from diesel but gives you a quick indication that the diesel you are pouring into the tractor has water in it. If you are in an area that likes to sell you 50/50 diesel/water mixture its probably worth filling Jerry cans first and after it has settled fill the vehicle using a tractor funnel that will let you know when you are down to the water in the bottom of the can.

Only problem with the quad lock is that it only mounts to a slanted window. In my Loader it wouldn’t work.
