I would use the plastic cape as a rough template and transfer it to paper (you can get the hard to reach places with paper and make any folds etc to get the correct shape and tape to hold the shape. I don't know how much you use cloth but a white glue and water solution to position and pin the garment so it dries draped properly is great. If you haven't worked in fabric before, look at Little Gretchen's workshop, any of her videos on bedding, curtains and doll clothing is sure to cover this process.

Thank you for the advice, sounds like a great idea and I will definitely give it a go.

I use that Polyfilla type plaster stuff (you can tell I'm female when it comes to DIY products) and mix paint or glue or both to aid adhesion and stretch it, theres also lots of homemade texture pastes, Diedre on Our Upcycled Life has a whole playlist of DIY recipes, that can give rougher or smoother textures depending on what you need. I tried the baby powder one but the smell was way too overpowering for me. Baking soda is a good one. My cat who died in April used to compulsively lick plastic bags because she knew I didn't like it, I still worry if that contributed to her getting cancer, but theres so many things that could have triggered it.
@lawcreations680517 күн бұрын
I'm sorry about the loss of your cat. It's never easy. I have to keep plastic bags out of reach because she will lick and chew them. I will check out the channel that you mentioned as I am always in search of diy that produce great results, especially if it's cheap.

I wish I had a 3D printer, it would let me explore the possibility of 1:25th action figures, I would love that. I don't get enough time to play video games. I think you need to relax more, a hobby is supposed to be enjoyable and it shows in your work if you love what youre doing. Its cool you have a space for relaxation as Jack Torrance said in the Shining "all work and no play....". Your relaxation room is perfect for unwinding so you can come back fresh to projects. Don't beat yourself up about it.

I often find burnout can happen even in a hobby. I definitely walk away when I need to, and try not to get overwhelmed with the creative process. A big reason that I don't do commission work is because I create because I find it therapeutic. I do it for me.
@AnneAndersonFoxiepaws22 күн бұрын
You have some really good videos, I am in 1:18th mostly. I started at 1:6th then the 1:12th and you struck the nail on the head, smaller is more do-able and is really appealing to me too. Love that sewer system, I have re-curring dreams about being stuck in a maze of Victorian sewers and this one really gave me a jolt, I think I should be exploring that. I tend to shoot off on tangents. A cat is an ideal miniaturists companion, as long as its not sweeping tiny components into oblivion with a moody tail! I think you may still be younger than me (I was an original Punk after Glam Rock).
@lawcreations680519 күн бұрын
@AnneAndersonFoxiepaws i really appreciate you watching and commenting. My cat definitely hangs with me whenever I craft. The only downside is the fur 😆. That dream sounds interesting, as long as it's not a nightmare. I grew up in the 80's born in 1968, I'm an old nerd, kid at heart though. Thank you for commenting!!

I wonder if humidity plays a role. Hmm. I have some of this and I want to cast some turtles and crosses to paint. I thought this would work good. Now I’m not sure. I’ll try it though. Maybe I’ll use less water. (I live in the south)

I'm nearing the end of a 16"x16" usurped throne room showdown between dragon and knight (28mm) soldering gear, cut wire and electronics strewn, paint - goodness the paint! washes, glitter, glitter glue, beads, and costume jewels cover a work station and table, acrylic glazes, crates and loot, modpodge, elmers, aileen's original and foam safe super glue, newspaper and parchment paper with parts drying, nippers, tweezers, files, sanding sticks - plastic organizer trays stacked on each other, greebles and terrain scatter prepped and probably not needed just waiting around to be dismissed. Good thing I don't have a cat.

I do really enjoy all your content thank you for posting all your videos of your work however I would like to say I would love to see more of your post-apocalyptic type figures and dios as that's my favorite genre as well I know that you like that stuff quite a bit yourself! So in closing I would just like to say thank you for all you do and again hopefully all is well with you and yours and I look forward to seeing you next vid hopefully it will be soon thank you
