My dad had a set of threaded pins with one way snaps on them. You screw a couple into a trans or engine then you don't have to worry about slidouting the gasket. Just literally smack the pan up into place. You can even let go if you have to but unless it snapped pretty tight I wouldn't recommend it. I see so many KZbinrs struggling with being careful to get the alignment just right.

Good video. Appreciate the really good camera work. Me, I would have cracked that fill plug first thing. Might be a showstopper. Also, I was expecting to see CVTF-II fluid from Subaru which is what I thought was required for a CVT car.
@operationoverhaul19 сағат бұрын
I was thinking the same thing as far as the fluid. I would have thought that the CVT fluid that they use would be the preferred fluid but they sent me that. I normally do crack the fill plugs first but I did not think about it until the end. If it would not have came off, I would have welded a nut/bolt/cheap allen socket to it though lol.

When you get the one from amazon, you would be getting a completely rebuilt head versus using some parts that will be used. Plus, the camshafts on the amazon head are normally new or reground to ensure they are in good shape.

Where are the wheel bearings? Are they not behind the seal on both sides where ur wheel goes on?
@operationoverhaul3 күн бұрын
No they are pressed onto the axle shaft along with the backing plates, seals, and some other parts on that area. They are not inside the housing like a lot of other cars. These are just like toyota truck axle bearings. It requires a special tool to remove them and they are considered to be one of the most dangerous style wheel bearings to remove.

@thegreatestkid1295 so into the oil pan basically. My best suggestion would be to get the longest magnet you can find and try and fish it out. If that does not work then drain the oil and try running the magnet through the drain plug and see if it is in there. The last resort, but best option, is oil pan removal.
@Eddie242519 күн бұрын
It may be different for a 2004. But I have a 2004 Toyota forerunner V6 4.0 L and I let mine sit overnight and then drained it and got between 5-5 1/2 quarts out of it! I did 2 drain and fills now I’m going to drop the pan to clean the magnets and replace the filter. I also got some extremely strong rare earth magnets from Amazon to replace the factory ones like really strong and they’re pretty cheap around $10 that I plan on putting in there. I always see everyone drain the transmission, put the plug back in take the bolts out and the pan has filled back up with fluid. What I’m planning on doing is draining it more than likely after letting it sit overnight putting the plug back in finger tight take all the 10 mm bolts out then take the plug back out and let any more that has accumulated drain out. Then take the pan down.
@operationoverhaul18 күн бұрын
I like that idea of the earth magnets because they are super strong and will grab onto all of the debris. Plus the idea of letting it sit after draining is a good idea. It will always have run off and that will allow it to be caught back in the pan. Good tips.

I did this with the i6 traiblazer. I bought to hex sockets, 1 for impacting the head bolt and the other to break it loose with a breaker bar. I would hit it a few times with the spare hex socket, grab the other hex socket to torque to loosen it and as soon as I heard a pop I would immediately stop, then i would get the spare socket and hit it a few more times, then repeat. I would repeat this process until they would loosen up by hand. I didnt break any of the bolts using this method from another video I found on another youtube video. Great video!

I have tried that on these before and it does seem to help. It does help minimize breakage but at least if they do break they tend to come out easy.

To break that axle nut loose, take the center cap off the rim and use a long breaker bar with tire on the vehicle. A lot of people fight that axle but being its torqued to 200ft lbs of torque plus rust, it can be challenging to remove. if u try and take it off with no tire, the suspension will absorb your turning of the breaker bar. This is assuming you don’t have an impact gun.
