Thanks this song was popular in the U.K. in the skiffle days 1957 ish. I love it and your lesson was very good and much appreciated.

Sounds Great ..... however I think this picking patten works best only when the start singing note 'G' is the same as string 4 (also 'G') . As it is in this particular song. Please correct me if I am wrong on this point.

I’m one of your subscribers is there a chord chart with the progression and words for this song that I can print?

Oh wow! How wonderful. This is not a song that I ever would have thought about playing and singing, but you have inspired me. It really suits the Ukulele. Thank you very much. I only just found you, I really like your teaching style, will have a look at your other videos.

My favourite band so always on the look out for songs on the uke. Thanks for this. Great book case as well. Like the horizontal structure on the books rather than vertical

Did you know that there is a typo of the song title on the front of this video? It entitles it: St Johns Infirmary instead of St James Infirmary

This sounds like the slow, contemplative recommended strum pattern that I heard is recommended for old S. Foster song "Hard Times." Works well.

Is there a chord chart as mentioned in your tutorial?

This song is too sad. I never heard it before I don't want to learn to play it. But, I love playing "St James Infirmary" from your tutorial.

This was incredibly helpful! Thank you for sharing the strum pattern also! Seems a lot of people posting tutorials forget this step and the strum pattern brings so much to this song.

During the strum, you kind of drag your thumb slowly, but you snap your fingers briskly, sounds really good, is there a name for the technique?

I learned something about my strumming in this series: I’m leaving out the upstroke at the end of each swing strumming set, before the chord change. Wow, that was hard to change! Saying the words along with strumming taught me to make it through the syncopation in Ahhh, Momma rock me. Not having a new word to key on in the middle of Ahhh threw me off. So now I can play the song through and hear the missing strums come back into my strumming! Practicing 2 parts at a time really helped me. 😊
