@@ahumblehighlandhome-scotla8636 It's easy. Make plain scones (without sugar or fruit). Fry up sage sausage in the pan. Take out the sausage and add flour to the grease (1:1 ratio or 1 tbsp flour for 1 tbsp oil or grease). In the same pan as the sausage was made cook flour until very light brown. Add milk to the flour and stir to eliminate any lumps. When it is thickened to your liking, crumble the sausage into it and pour over the scone on each plate.

We will be having veggie haggis also. We used to have Mr. MacSweens finest also but last year, herself made the haggis to a recipe by the Hebridean Baker, Coinneach MacLeod. It was so delicious, eaten with a whisky sauce made from Laphroaig, we’ve had it a few times since and will be having it on Saturday. She will be making your crannachan as well, plus shortbread and tablet! Fair fa’ yer honest, sonsie face, great chieftain o’ the puddin race! Slàinte!

I will go and have a look, thank you so much for sharing this with me 🙏 this would be something else we would be able to make at home which is one of my challenges that I have set myself this year. Addressing of the haggis- I can remember an ex work colleague tried to get me to address the haggis! As you can imagine with my accent this was not going to happen, so I am very impressed you can just rattle it off. Thank you 🙏

I love your videos, this one makes no exception. As of their content, I personally prefer variety, this is what I like about your channel, is about various things: a bit of gardening, a bit of cooking, little decorations and home made gifts, a bit of everything. I love broth and homemade bread especially in winter time, its part of me, of my culture, I am Romanian (Eastern Europe), most of us cook only/mostly from whats in the garden or from food markets where local producers sell their produces. I like to cook, especially now when I am retired and each time is a joy, sort of time for clear my mind and thoughts, creativity, being in here and now, mindfulness how it's called now, a time for thinking of others and myself, a bit of introspection and love.Because, in the end, I share what I cook with those whom I love ❤ Thank you for sharing all your lovely videos with us, they bring me so much food for thoughts and heart and I am truly grateful to you and Adam for all of these.

Hiya Menita, a late, but neverthless 'MERRY CHRISTMAS' to you, Adam and your family'! Every year I think about making bees wax wraps as theyre such a useful kitchen tool and every year I forget. So youve yet again inspired me. (I've now written it in my diary so it cant be forgotten yet again) I did make some wee gifts for my girls....I made embroidered wardrobe sachets which I stuffed with home grown lavender. The embroidery was from a very old table cloth my mother embroidered but never finished when she was 17 years old. (my mother is 87 years old) The table cloth was stained and discoloured but the wee embroidered flower motifs were all in good condition so could be repurposed. I wanted the girls to have something made by me and their granny :) I also made tablet as I do every Christmas for Brian. Over the years I have made it with granulated white sugar, white castor sugar, raw sugar and brown sugar. Im never happy with the outcome because I was it to be more smooth and less gritty. I follow the rules of ensuring the sugar is dissolved before adding the condensed milk and yet still slightly gritty!. This year I used powdered sugar also known as icing sugar and the tablet was to my mind perfect! I was so pleased and then another Scottish friend told me 'part of the taste is the gritty texture'! bah humbug. But Brian did enjoy it so thats all that really matters :) We are still hay making. We were rained out during the week around Xmas and its still wet on and off, so we are patiently watching the weather forecast for a week of clear sunny weather and then we are back into it. Xmas day was lovely for me as Brian always cooks what is now his traditional pancakes, bacon, fried banana and fresh fruit piled ontop with lashings of coconut yoghurt. He only cooks it once a year so we all look forward to it :) Zoe my daughter and her partner came for breakfast which was a lovely surprise. We puddled around the place for the afternoon and dinner was decadent desserts. 5 in total (enough to give one diabetes or a heart attack) 2 were healthy and 3 werent! We all woke up the following morning with sugar hangovers (that will teach us :)) Anyway I hope you had the most wonderful Christmas and I'll catch you on the other side of Hogmana in 2025. Take care and all the best wishes from us lot down under. Rae x

Hi Rae, A very Happy Hogmanay to you , Brian & family. The thought of your mums table cloth being repurposed with your own creativity and home grown lavender is music to my soul, how beautiful ❤️ Yes “ tablet” is supposed to have a slight gritty texture if not it would be more like a fudge which is smooth, however it sounds like you have a perfect “taste tester” like I do who is probably just grateful to you for making it regardless. We have had so much rain & a sprinkling of snow recently & we are forecast bad weather tonight so it’s looking like a quiet one for us tonight. Fingers crossed the rain stops so you have time to harvest, dry & store the rest of your harvest. I love your breakfast tradition, it all sounds delicious, well done Brian 👏 A sugar hangover! Who needs alcohol?! I can imagine it was fun at the time though. We had our 4 generations in my daughter’s house to see the kids open their presents on Xmas day which was lovely & we have spent most of the week visiting friends & family. I normally do my annual review in between Christmas & New Year so I will be taking a day to focus on plans for the year ahead, especially given the dreich weather. Thank you so much for your company and wisdom over the year and of course Brian’s occasional starring role. Until the next one “Slainte” 🥃 🤗

Hi Jeanette, Thank you, it’s good to hear from you. It sounds like you are all embracing the heat over there in NZ. I hope everything is fruitful for you and the birds don’t take more than their share. I am in awe of you all busy with your gardens & fields, planting, harvesting, preserving as well as preparing for Christmas. Take care 😊

Hiya Menita, I really like you horizontal wreath, what a good idea and an idea Im going to have to borrow. I make my own wreaths from my Wisteria vines that I prune. I add a few lengths of vine every year to the wreaths and theyre slowly thickening up. However I really liked your willow wreaths they are so chunky so I think willow is the way to go. Be have willows growing around our ponds down the back of the farm so Im going to raid them. Great idea having a living outdoor tree under your porch, another idea I'll borrow as I have a pine nut tree in a large pot so that will have to do. The over all picture under your wee porch is very inviting and cosy and of course Christmassy :) its was lovely watching the transformation. As Lorraine says its hot balmy days here at the moment. We are still haymaking. We have approx 20 acres to cut for hay. So far weve cut 7 acres so its all hands to the deck! Im having a day in the vege garden today as its also harvest season. We have hedges of Black, Red and White currents that are all ripening faster than I can pick. So Ive spent smorning picking furiously. We also have raspberry, Blackberry, Boysenberry and Tay berry bushes. Unfortunately they havent yeilded much this year or the birds are beating me to it. Tomorrow its back to baling hay. I havent contacted you through instigram yet because I dont do any social media. However Brian has instigram for his work so he's going to message you so we can swap email addresses. I'll forward you pics of the farm and gardens too so then you'll have a better idea of what Im rambling on about. Better go back to the garden. Stay Warm both of you and of course your wee pusses too. Rae x

@@livingjustright90 Hi Rae, you must be meeting yourself coming back with everything on the go at once! 20 acres to harvest!!!! Wow, just wow! This is why I freeze a lot of our produce so I can make it into something later. It’s a lot but oh so worth it. I am so grateful being able to eat the veggies now that I picked months ago & saved a lot of the seeds ready for planting out once again. It never truly stops but I’m ok with that as I love the circular process. Since our previous wee chat I have opened an email address specifically for this channel so I can be contacted privately. I have started to add this email address onto the video description now. 🤗 Remember to pause for a wee breather! Take care Menita [email protected]

Love your wreaths and Christmas tree idea. Lol I'm staying inside through the day as the average temp since Saturday has been 26c. Enjoy your hot chocolate while I have my iced water. =-) Take care as always.

@@lorrainerichardson3280 thank you Lorraine. It’s easy to lose sight of the warmer days when we are in the minus temperature weather season. As we are enjoying the slower garden times you will be in busy, busy season. All equally special in their own ways. Take care 🤗
