I don't understand the grom hate. Yeah it sucks the diffs are hit or miss and there not in stock. I gotta say arrma really messed up there not having the optional parts stocked up. Aside from the diff issues they seem to be very durable. I personally think arrma vehicles are easier to work on and fix compared to traxxas cars but that's my opinion. I think the grom is an amazing rtr car with an affordable price point.
@MexManRC8 ай бұрын
Might be that people (me included) looked at the Grom and didn't really expect much. Yes, I disliked it and practically bought it as a "joke" But it has quickly become my favourite car to take with me in the trunk of my car or even saddle bags of my bike. I spoke way too soon when I made this video. The Grom is definitely a good little RC

I have the brushed version of this truck and have reviewed it on my channel as well. Awesome trucks they are! Unless you know something I don't, the spare parts in the parts manual are very difficult to find. I did find one source and got some parts in advance of breaking things. Otherwise almost non existent. I have cross referenced some of the parts with WLtoys 1/10 104001, which works in a pinch. the belly pan is wlToys as well. its a wicked fun rig though for the amount of money I paid for it! Mine is now brushless as well! Any questions, lets keep in touch. I subbed you brother
@MexManRC8 ай бұрын
Appreciate it, man! There's an online hobby shop that has all the parts. They'll be selling them separately beginning next month. I can shoot you their name if you'd like. It still takes a while for the parts to be shipped out and received. But at least they're existent. I do agree that WLTOYS parts will work on a pinch. The parts were also difficult to find due to the cars being "new realeases" Now that some of these cars have been out for a few months, the parts availability is getting better.

I always put hot glue on the soldering connections and wait for it to harden, then the solder connections are protected and the wires are much harder to break off from the PCB.
@MexManRC10 ай бұрын
i've heard of this before. What type of glue do you use? I've heard super glue, but not sure if it'd work
@philiprccars434010 ай бұрын
@@MexManRC You just put little dots of hot glue with your hot glue gun on the PCB where the wires are soldered to the board and wait for it to cool down before you move the wires, that will stop the wires from breaking off when they are moved around because the bare wire tips will be stuck to the board with the hot glue. It also works for the other side of the wires where they are connected to the motors and the battery tray to prevent them from breaking off when they are moved around a lot.

Some hot glue doesn't stick as well in the cold conformal coatings much better way to go❤👍

Yes I did. And I made a second video of it retracting everything I said in this video. The Grom is a pretty decent rig. Not sure about upgrades since I haven't had to replace anything on it. Only thing I did upgrade are the front turnbuckles to some adjustable ones.

I am not impressed with this Arrma, a lot of hype because of the name, the HBX 16889A PRO is a lot better than this, Arrma should have tried a lot harder with this to compete in this size class! With the two in one Receiver/ESC it is at a lower level than the MJX Hyper Go. I will order a RC at the same level as this at a much lower price and prove that there is nothing special about this and that it is definitely not worth the price. The tool, LOL!!! - I can buy a very good brushed RC and a whole toolkit for less than the price of this Arrma.
@MexManRC10 ай бұрын
I agree completely. The Grom is an OK car. But for the same price you can get something with better components. People are blinded by a name that's it. I've decided to keep the Grom at the end. I gave my WLTOYS to my bud so he can work on it.
@philiprccars434010 ай бұрын
I do not agree about the oil shocks, the price range that these are at and supposed to be the PRO version of these RC cars, they should come with oil shocks as standard equipment.
@MexManRC10 ай бұрын
Eh. Oil shocks to me aren't that big of a deal. Even though they're meant to be hobby grade, they're still the beginner version of them. At least these friction shocks are much better than the ones that come on WM RCs.
@philiprccars434010 ай бұрын
Wow, first to comment, yes, this is a chassis proven through time to be very good. I have the SCY 390 brushed Conquer and the Cheetah, the brushed ones are quite likely still the best hobby grade entry most budget friendly level cars for someone who wants to start in the hobby. The remote is actually on the same level as the MJX 16 scale cars that are quite a bit more expensive than this one. I see the body is also damaged like mine by the steering wheel of the remote hitting it from the underside during transport. Are hydraulic shocks so much more expensive than friction ones, or could they not have left some of the fancy stuff out and added hydraulic shocks for this car?
@MexManRC10 ай бұрын
When it comes to shocks we have to remember that it's not just THIS one car. But it's for the whole line. Adding oil shocks means the factory would have to deal with the fluid in bulk. Which in turn would probably mean more permits to operate and to maintain safety at the factory. These friction shocks aren't really THAT bad. Sure they're bouncy as hell lol. But having friction shocks also mean less maintenance for the user. Especially if they're new at the hobby.

You need to actually give this thing a chance. I’ve had mine a few weeks and can’t get enough of it. It’s fallen off my homemade basement obstacle course to the concrete floor more times than I can count. Gone off the jump I made literally hundreds of times. Done hundreds of backflips off the little board I set up against the basement wall. And I’ve crashed it into god knows how many things in my basement. And so far I’ve broken nothing! My body has scuffs galore, but that’s it. Definitely can’t say that about ANY of those off brand junks I’ve owned in the past.
@MexManRC11 ай бұрын
Yup. I did. And it took a beating with no issues. Made another video admitting I was wrong about it. I should of given it a chance before anything. Now it's sitting proudly in the collection with some upgrades. I still really dislike the clip less body though lol
@OGRCFanatic11 ай бұрын
@@MexManRC that’s funny because the clipless body is one of my favorite things about it. 😂 Once you’re used to it, it pops on and off so easily.
@boduke94287 ай бұрын
@@MexManRCI hate clipless bodies on any fast rig or basher. I call my Xmaxx a self removing body. I'll die before I get to lazy to push 4 clips through holes before driving a RC. I'm just not that important. It's crazy to me that my Xmaxx has a clipless body but my supposedly scale trx6 has clips. Where they'd with great they don't use them and where they don't work they go clipless.

I really wish you would’ve driven the truck before you started berating it! When you start trashing a product before you even open the box it takes all your credibility away from you! Despite what you said and looking at other reviews I would still purchase this truck over a WL TOYS vehicle mainly because my local Hobby dealer will carry parts for it in store and in stock!
@MexManRC11 ай бұрын
I'll admit to that. I've been looking more into it and have decided to keep it. I'll probably be giving it a proper bashing later on today. As for parts, not all LHS will have them. Seems that LHS don't really carry as many parts as they used to.
