Breathtaking, but every time i see these great moments captured for us mere mortals... i s*** my pants. This ridge, these drops to the left and right... on a razors edge. The climbing in these conditions... some ppl are just lucky they can do this stuff! Chapeau

is this a route that somewhat beginners can take as well? I have crampons and stuff but what is neccessary for a climb like this?
@mountains-to-the-sea5 ай бұрын
The tour to the Dom is very long (even if you sleep again at the Dom Hut on the descent). I would not recommend this tour to beginners. Generally, a mountain guide is advisable. The difficulties lie in possible crevasses (depending on conditions) and the rock wall to the Festijoch (which is fragile and accidents happen almost every year).

Wonderful footage you have there. Makes me want to explore this place too... Looking at your equipments, especially on the lights, Im also deciding between the X adventurer M8000 or the M15000... So my question is if the M8000 is working well for you so far and do you occasional feel the need to have that more battery life or brighter lights? Thanks
@mountains-to-the-sea5 ай бұрын
Basically, the more light the better. However you need more buoyancy compensators due to added weight. Therefore, for me personally the M8000 work fine. I use them with the remote control and optic cable.

For a guide, I recommend OUTDOOR Mountaineering School Grindelwald. The Mittellegi hut is a private hut of the Grindelwald mountain guide association as well.

I've seen so many climbers post comments saying that part with the chain near the top of the fixed ropes is the hardest part. Like by the time you get to that point your legs are pretty wobbly and that's a real challenge before the climb up the roof to the top.

No route description or any information whatsoever. No ice axes, how would you have stopped a cravasse fall or even started a rescue with a hiking pole???
@olddirtydoggy10 ай бұрын
@@markjokinen Yes you do you mug!
@mountains-to-the-sea10 ай бұрын
The ice axe not always has to be carried in hand, but should be ready in case of e.g. a crevasse fall. To store it, push the axe between the shoulder blade and the backpack strap. It depends on conditions and group size.
@olddirtydoggy10 ай бұрын
@@mountains-to-the-sea So your partner drops down a cravasse, the rope pulls tight and quickly drags you towards the edge of the hole and you have to stop yourself sliding towards the abyss. Are you going to put the situation on pause whilst you reach for your axe to arrest the fall? Not a chance! Glad I'll never share a rope with you, I'd be dead if somebody went down a hole.

So nice to see this mountain and the nature aroud it again! I was there at the Uhuru Peak on February 15, 1990. In those days the top was fully covered with ice and snow. I even had some troubles with the narrow snow path. Still a great place and boys are doing their work so fine, with song and laughter. POLE POLE.

Wow, I am so impressed by the video! Really great work, both in terms of creativity and technical quality. I have recently ordered the Divevolk Housing and two Scubalamp V4K V2 video lights with 7600 lumen output @CRI 96. They should be quite similar to your M8000. Waiting for delivery right niw. Have you used the close up +8 lens or is the video shot without any additional lens? I guess you also have not used any filters, right!
@mountains-to-the-sea Жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot. I used the close up lens for some of these shots. I am not sure whether I used the red filter (and blue filters on the video lights) or not - I took the red filter with me on the dives but I cannot remember if I made use of it (it would be basically recommended for wide angle shots). Keep in mind that when using an iPhone, the ultra wide angle lens can only be used with zoom 1x, not with zoom 2x or zoom 3x. Images will get blurry.
