Most people engaged in educational research lack the resources necessary (time, money, statistical training, sample size, incentives, professional ethics) to design and conduct valid experiments. Then you have policy makers basing decisions on crap research. This is a big part of why our educational system here in the US is such a dysfunctional mess.

Wow! You just explained in 5 minutes what I couldn't understand from professor and textbook all semester. What really clarified things for me was the TIME component of each research method.
