Great job, cool retro diy project. But nowadays, simpler and cheaper to use practically free lcd or old monitors found at yard sales, thrift, or deals on the web. If oversized, mask to canon size. Use video files for displays as needed, or coded interactive graphics, python or other tools. I like to think that a lot of tos tech displays, series or movies, were actually 2d video or 3d hologram like displays, just appearing either as fixed physical indicators to us. Budgets and tech limits of the 60s-80s dictated use of bliken lights and static illuminated graphics, doesn't mean that's what they are, only to our 20th Century eyes. Other examples were apparent crt video tubes used in ST3+. Obviously not big crt tubes in use even now, much less 23rd century. Used Android tablets and phones with n7ce touchscreens also cheap to free

No doubt the model looks amazing when fully lite. It would be interesting to see what it looked like if you had some proper dolly track and a green screen. The model is so detailed you could make some convincing effect shots with it. Thanks for sharing this amazing model.

The Globe..! Hilarious..and charming. Wonderful model, I love the thruster port detailing, and the color brightening in the 'deflection crystal' thingy for the impulse engines.. ..as a small aside, does anyone else think that Probert missed an opportunity to put in an aft-facing torpedo tube, where that little indentation with the grooves sits, at the point where the dorsal fairing joins the engineering hull? I remember that he originally wanted hatches to cover the forward tubes, when they first designed the refit for the ship. In my mind's eye, that little bit of detail is the fairing covering the never-seen aft torpedo bay. Internally, there could be a third launcher sitting right in between the two forward launchers that flank the central reactor shaft, but maybe a deck above, and just aft of the reactor area...they could even share the same torpedo magazine...ah well, maybe that was in the budget for the follow-on refit, before the battle with Khan. Doesn't seem fair that Reliant got to have an aft launcher, though.

There was never a detail spec on this class of ship. I wondered how many decks she had, what was the crew count, what armored plating did it have? Still, it was a lovely model and Big! The amount of guns along her body and upgrades were like a battleship of WWI upgraded to WWII standards.

Take heart. The original filming model is perfectly safe in a private collection and now we have Star Trek: The Motion Picture, the directors addition. in 4K. The new sound and she ship look incredible. Plus, clever people make new video's of the Enterprise on KZbin. This ship is going to be with us forever. kzbin.info/www/bejne/d6eadJavhJhgers&pp=ygUpc3RhciB0cmVrIHRoZSBtb3Rpb24gcGljdHVyZSBhIHNwYWNlIHNhZ2E%3D
