Thanks for reaching out! The lower blue line should point to the bottom of the bottom rail ("The bottom edge of the lower hinge should be mounted within 6 in. of the lower surface of the lower rail." - 0:50 mark). Please let us know if you run into any other questions at all!

@@nationwideindustries7584 we had two problems but we fixed them. One was trying to install the first hinge backwards 🧐 The second was the the gate was too wide on the first attempt 😃

I have a 1/2 inch drill bit. Can I just use that instead of the recommended 5/8 inch bit?

@@MadLadsAnonymous I just installed the lock and the 1/2 inch drill bit did in fact work perfectly. The little plastic tubes that came in the package also fit perfectly into that size hole. I wonder why the 5/8 inch drill bit was recommended.
