What a magnificent monster of a supercell!! I did GR2 analysis on the 2010 Vivian, SD Supercell and I found out the overshooting top was 65,000 ft (lower Stratosphere) at one point!

Lots of tornadoes that day. I lived between Woonsocket and Lane and saw the rope and stovepipe ef4 form right in front of me headed to Alpena. Drove to wessington springs right after that and am sure I saw you. The car dealership next to hwy 34 got hit hard and so did about 2 dozen houses down those 2 streets.

Looking at this just makes me wonder how can humans look at a destructive force and admire it. I also noticed people csll everything that can kill you names like "majestic, awesome, fearless, ultimate, powerful, enchanting, mighty. Go figure.

It's because you are witnessing the sublime. It doesn't care if you get hurt. It merely is the result of natural forces at work. So, why not appreciate what nature can do?

And people are obsessed with life on some other planet!?! What we have is the most breathtaking place to live... contrary to popular opinion its not dying... we just have to have drama, fear, chaos... to feel normal I guess. But it's not needed... peace is found in the craziest of storms. Excellent video, thank you!

First off, I can NOT believe that no one has yet to comment on the majesty that is this video and I want to personally be the first person to tell you how thankful I am that you took the time to compile what to me is easily some of the most breathtaking supercell footage I've ever seen and I have been a severe weather enthusiast since about the age of 5. That said, I'm curious as the title and description both indicate a 4k rendering of this footage. However, I'm not sure if KZbin compressed the footage or if you somehow had to lower the quality in order to upload this, but if there is ANY way possible to investigate this, it doesn't visually appear to be in 4k and consequentially, the file integrity of the audio seems to be a little compromised as well (grainy in some places). I've viewed this video on multiple TV's and sound systems and it's the same. This is NOT a complaint at all, in fact nothing would satisfy me more than for this to go absolutely viral. Is there another platform by which we can view this in it's full 4k quality or is it even a possibility to consider re-uploading this in it's full quality? Again thank you, thank you, thank you for posting this utterly remarkable video to you tube and please again, none of my above statements are intended to be interpreted as criticism, but rather, wanting to see this in it's most pristine quality (if at all possible).

First of all, I really appreciate your honesty about this video, and I can't help but wonder the same thing. Although I'm totally blind and have been so my entire life, I pay close attention to the audio quality, because it's just as important as the visual quality. A good comparison between the two is this: Great binoccular vision and true stereo, binaural audio go hand in hand. They are both at a wider angle, or to put it another way, they both are what put you, as a viewer and/or listener, right there where you can take in the experience as if you were there. Just like a good set of binocculars make for a much better viewing experience, so likewise, true stereoscopic or binaural stereo audio also makes for much better audio quality. When the audio is compressed between both ears, the sound actually travels up to the vestibular nerve at the top of the head. When, however, you have stereo, binaural audio, you distribute the sound more widely across to both ears, and this involves both the coccliar and vestibular nerves. This, in turn, reduces the risk of hearing loss, because the audio isn't concentrated in one area. I'm so glad I'm not alone when I find others who share my "views"-- pun fully intended. I just see things differently. Thanks.
