So regional violence is the primary driver of migration. Accepting that, we are instead talking about "climate driven migration". I would imagine CDM would be rather low on the list of reasons why people migrate unless they are escaping a cold climate. If you control for migration away from colder regions the entirety of CDM is likely a statistically insignificant driver. The author of this presentation seems to conflate weather events for climatic stressors. Sounds like another poor attempt to pin high ECS and the RCP8.5 scenario to migration. Another week attribution "study". Poor scholarship. Maybe a presentation like this can be effective in moving people who lack the time and inclination to read?

This is absurd for two reasons. 1) There is absolutely nothing you can do to stop this. You could end all fossil fuel production at midnight tonight across the globe, nothing would change. 2) Disingenuous. Humans have decimated the oceans from overfishing causing vastly more harm than warming could ever achieve.

The final hope we have is to elect the Modern Monetary Theory (MMT) economists and politicians who support them. Neoliberal democrats and republicans are doomed to failure and corruptiom. Forbes and the neoliberal outfits are now writing books and doing hit pieces trying to discredit the hard work of the MMTers. Please learn evsrything you can about MMT and how the federal spending and federal and lrivate economy actually works! Please spread the word and volunteer for the MMTers! Bill Mitchell, Pavlina Tcherneva, Sam Levey, Ellis Winningham, etc etc. Too many to mention. Christian Reiley and Patricia Pino's 'MMT Podcast'. and Grumbine's - 'Macro N' Cheese' podcast. It is pretty simple if we just spend a couple weeks learning how the federal budget actually works and that all Green New Deal-style.programs can be federally funded without inflation! Your federal taxes DO NOT fund federal spending! Federal taxes are eliminated upon collection into the federal digital accounts! The federal bank issues the currency. All that we need to do is issue the currency to fund the Green New Deal programs and tax to control inflation. That is what taxation is for -- controlling inflation and driving up demand for the currency. When you are issued a property tax, for instance, you are then forced to become more productive and become employed in order to pay the federal tax. This is just one of the very basic principles of MMT. I don't have time to explain everything, but rest assured, when yhe neoliberal democrats and republicans moan about the deficit and "how will.we.paynfor these programs like universal healthcare and Green New Deal, they are either lying or ignorant of how frderal spending works in an economy that issues its own sovereign currency! The money is created by the federal central banks and then issued to the banks you then get your paycheck from! If the federal govt didn't have a deficit you wouldn't receive a paycheck! So it is not an issue of "how will we pay for it" (because the federal govt has a "blank check" power to issue currency) -- the real question is how do we manage inflation (too much demand chasing too few goods and services of the real productive capacity of our economy). Inflation was managed by the USA during WW2! And it mobilized itself within months to go to war! Just like the New Deal was created within months! Do not let these.politicians and neoclassical economists convince you there is no money to fund the New Deal programs we need! Pavlina Tcherneva and Sam Levey have papers on how the federal govt was able to "pay for" WW2. All empires have run deficits and didn't collapse! Japan runs huge deficits of percentages equal to huge chuncks of its GDP! We just need to get progressive MMT economists and politicians elected!

Nobody is fleeing warming. People are fleeing poverty. People are fleeing to wealthy nations because wealth and the modern world keeps us safe. Poverty is the threat not warming.

I want to use the”building local capacity graphic” as an example. It’s a list for who to consider and for who to act on? Whereas I appreciate the academic process, who is actually going to do the work described on the graphic? I’m wondering with all these academics and intellectuals with ideas, who is holding the axe or the shovel or the competence to make any of these happen for climate refugees. I’m a farmer listening to all this and saying, how many people like this speaker are thinking if they do the thinking, someone else is going to do the work? Where are the hard skills. I worry about our future on the ground for any climate migration efforts. I suppose we can seek migrants with the skills to build this infrastructure. I for example have the skills from a 35 year heavy construction and engineering practice as well as running a 660 acre farm and forestry tract. I’m not will to give my skills away for free after a lifetime of being treated terribly by society. My point is I’m not sure those with the experience to make these transitions happen, have not been brought into the fold. Last I checked, structures don’t build themselves, so whats in it for us builders and land owners to help? The nation is walking into a problem with a skills deficiency. And all the big picture talk and funding will not get those with the skills to contribute their labor. How will society compensate us for contributing our know how. It’s a reality that has to be considered.

Here in the UK, we are well prepared to welcome climate migrants. We are building many more houses than we currently require. We are building many new reservoirs and water treatment plants. Our electric grid has been expanded and is currently running at only a 50% capacity and farmers are being encouraged to utilise farmland to the full.

This chart and numbers are wack. The weather patterns of earth change dramatically every 10 to 12k years. The overall temp is lower than it has been in the entire history of earth along with CO2 levels. The ocean level is expected to rise above 1 inch in the next 100 years; and so will the land. What’s happening is normal. Hurricanes are not happening more often or becoming more severe. The horrible forest fires are happening because of poor forest management in not burning the under brush with controlled burns. Investigate and stop jumping on band wagons.
