(writing from Brazil) Being from another generation, I had never paid much attention to Dolores until her sudden death. To me, the Cranberries were just another competent pop band, nothing more Only in the last few days, while binge-watching several videos on YT, did I realize the amazing personality of her voice: at the same time strong and soft, sweet and bitter. And so vulnerable. So beautifully vulnerable, ready to break at any moment... just as she herself had her innocence broken inside as a child What she was able to convey from such a horrible experience was so rawly moving. My impression is that she had to build a protective armor around herself through which only her voice let the wounded child inside shine through That's why she seemed like this wary and suspicious animal, ready to fight or flee, that's why there's such a vulnerable beauty in her voice

Somehoiw missed her (maybe 'cause I'm 73) but "Zombie" captures horror of Gaza in a way that just seems to rip my Fing heart out. I'm hearing it everywhere now and will soon be singing it myself. She must have been a very tough act to follow!
