Hey Nick, thanks for the info. I have oster76 and they are starting to feel their age. So you have any take on replacing the lower blade with ceramic when the top part is the oyster metal or black detachable blades?
@cloudsdiamondsharpening3973
@cloudsdiamondsharpening3973 7 күн бұрын
@@christopherh1604 a few things to consider are ceramic blades are stronger and won't get hot as quickly as steel. However, because they're stronger, it makes them more brittle and subject to damage if not cared for properly. They can be great when used and cared for properly.

@@christinebarron8467 the clipper probably needs to be serviced, specifically near the head. Clipper blades don't work by themselves. They require the head of the clipper to be in good shape to be fully functional.

@christinebarron8467 Many of our customers purchase new blades and have them sharpened by us to ensure optimal performance. Our sharpening process results in blades that are sharper than new and maintain their edge longer. It's not uncommon for new blades to have cutting issues right out of the package. For the best results, we recommend sending both your clipper and blades to us. We will make sure they perform at their highest potential.

Are you still in the business? I hope so, as this video has been most informative and I happen to have, now way durable, antique clippers my Dad used on his horses. They run but, service & part replacement, would bring old school cool, back better than questionable new school. They have to be well built machines.? I'm open minded, Steward 21 & 51. Cords & brush retainer caps are obviously in need, service unquestionable. Please let me know, respectfully, William.

Well even if the rotary platten is not dead flat. The orientation in which you presenting the blade to it would not create a heel to toe curvature. As in it would notncreate relief in the center of the blade. Say the platten has a slight curvature fromthe inside center point to the outside edge. If you were trying to create relief in the center portion of the blade, you would have to present the blade 90 degrees to the orientation in which you are sharpening. Because there is no logical reason you would want slight curvature from left to right. Even after a handful of sharpening you would start to lose effective cutting. Which you can see your blade cuts great on the left and right side. But loses its effectiveness in the center. Because you are creating a sprung effective between both blades. Which seems fine, but the fact is yes you are creating less friction points between the blades, but also losing center cutting action. Do youself a favor and turn the blade 90 degrees on your platten to facilitate even heal toe wear while creating a small relief in the center. Which you will acheive your original goal, but this way the blades can be sharpened many more times.

Hi!
