Bromptons are a fun bike and useful/practical. You must be doing something right as you still look in your early 30s!

Congratulations on your purchase. My Brompton is 19 years old (bought in October 2005), and the gear shifter on yours is older than mine (which still works perfectly). So it’s at least 20 years old, probably even a bit more. However, what I would strongly recommend for safety reasons is to urgently replace the handlebar, because it seems to be the original, and several of these have broken, causing accidents. In fact, handlebars should be replaced from time to time. The good news is that you can also gradually upgrade it. On mine, I’ve replaced the brake levers with the current ones, the folding system with one that locks new tires (these also seem to be the original ones, and they were dangerous when wet), a new crank that allows multiple chainrings (a 44-tooth chainring is recommended for the three-speed version), new grips (much more comfortable), and the current Brompton saddle (the regular one from years ago, also very comfortable and durable). I also highly recommend the rear rack with Eazy Wheels, which makes it very convenient to roll the bike on the ground without having to carry it.

can you upgrade a Brompton to higher gearing ?

I think the wheel on mudguard holds the mudguard stays in place

The model you have doesn’t lock at the suspension block but you can buy the modern quick release and upgrade it to lock 👌. First thing I done

Congrats on your new-to-you Brompton. I, too, purchased one from Facebook Marketplace for a song (not literally). It, too, is in British racing green, but is an M6R. Lovely little bike that complements 3 Dahon folding bikes in my garage for family camping trips. Liked and subscribed. Cheers!

About the backend not locking to the rest of the frame: try turning the suspension block (the 'rubbery part'), that enables/disables the locking mechanism

This is an awesome song that reminds us how important each moment is. I shared this on my community tab and I really like your folk songwriting style! A lot of positive vibes! This song certainly shines a light on what is important. Carpe Diem! Each thursday at 7pmest, I do an open mic night live stream where I play music videos of the people I see in my live chat. Musicians network and share fans. I would love to invite you! Awesome finding your songs and music!
